Contents |
Area 00
The FSA Headquarters
There's not much to do here but get used to the controls if you didn't already in the Basic Tutorial the game offers up front. However, climb your way up to the very top of the stage and head to the far right. In this top-far-right corner you will find a door that can be entered. Here you can pickup the Revolver Upgrade. When you feel confident with the controls, you can leave this stage to the far right or left.
Area 01
The Oil Refinery
Here you'll be faced by actual foes. Shoot the baddies and climb your way up to the top of the first structure of the stage. At the very top you will find the first Communication Terminal of the game. Contact H.Q. and then try to Hack Enemy Network. This is a somewhat confusing mini-game at fist. You'll be presented with a cube which can contain any number of Red Squares and Blue Squares, but only one Green Square and one Yellow Ball. The object is to the get the ball into the Green Square. Rotate the cube around to look at it from different angles. What's important to note is that the ball will always go in the direction away from you. In other words, straight back. There's no alarms attached to this terminal so you should hack this one until you solve it. Other terminals will sound an alarm when you fail so it's best to figure it out here.
Once you've found the Communication Terminal, drop back do along the right, note that the enemies have respawned, and then swing across the gap using the searchlight. Blast and fight your way through the enemies, be aware that falling into water is instant death. Begin to climb up this tall structure taking out any who may stand in your way. Know that if an enemy is using a barrel for cover that you can take that barrel from him by hooking it with your then hitting the arm button a second time to bring it to you. Once you have the barrel, you can hurl it back at them and kill them with their own cover. At the very top you will find a door with an arrow pointing down. Enter this door.
The Yashichi can be found before entering the door. It is located in the far right corner of this area. From the doorway that leads to the cave, drop down two platforms to the right. You should find a red steel door and a concrete block on the small platform to the right. Stand on this platform to the right of the door. Basically, you want to latch onto the ledge above you and swing out over the open water to the right. Ignore the taller searchlight and latch onto the shorter one and swing to the right some more. You will need to continue to swing for a few more searchlight before finding a platform that hangs just above the water. Wait until the last moment to latch onto it and lift yourself out of the water. Climb the platforms to find the Yashichi at the very top. Make your way back and enter the door you ignored.
You are now inside the oil refinery. Use the elevator to descend along the right hand shaft. Hop off the elevator at the first tunnel you come to. Go to the right side. Cling ceiling and shoot the Battery Power Barrier. This is the metal looking thing that hangs for the ceiling and has a laser shooting straight down from it. Once you have taken it out, head further right. Duck and use your arm to grab the concrete block on the other side of the lower wall and then pull yourself under it. Stand up and you'll see two pillar like thing coming down from the ceiling. You can use these to swing across the gap to the right and collect an Extra Life on the opposing ledge.
If you grabbed the extra life, you'll need to fall down the gap and hop on the elevator which will appear for you here, then head back up the shaft. If you didn't, just keep heading down. Either way you will come to a tunnel with another Communication Terminal. At least contact H.Q. with it but really you should be trying to hack the networks as well.
Exit the terminal and head to the left now. You'll need to fight your way to the upper left portion of this underground area. You'll need to take out a few more Battery Power Barriers but you'll mostly be facing Cover and Patrol Soldiers and a couple Heavy Weapons Soldiers. The most notable is the one in the very upper left guarding the door. Head through this door to face the boss.
Boss: D-1 Beetle
Here you'll face a large circular flying contraption, the D-1 Beetle. You basically need to grab barrels from the left side then hurl them at the underbelly of the machine for starters. Once you've hit it with a barrel, the machine will fall to the ground where you can unload on it with you gun. It will soon take flight again but this time it will alternate its weak spot to the top of it. You'll need to climb up on the balcony, grab another barrel and hurl it at the top of the robot-like thing. Again, once you hit it, drop down and fire away at it until it gets back up . If you got the Revolver Upgrade before this level you should only have to unload on it 2 to 3 times max. Without the upgrade it might take a little longer though. Defeat the machine to clear the level.
You will be given Grenades as a reward for completing this area.
Revisit this area once you have the grenades. After you enter the cave, make your way to the very bottom of the area and then all the way to the left. In the furtherest bottom-left section of this map you will find a soldier with a bazooka. Take him out then use the grenades to blow up the wall behind him. Enter the newly revealed door and unlock the Secret Challenge 1.
Area 13
FSA Camp
Here you can wander around and talk to ally soldiers. The first door you come to will be the Challenge Rooms. There you can train and complete a series of challenges. Further to the right are two doors, one on the ground and one just above on a platform. The lower one will lead you to a tricky room that contains an Extra Live. The higher one will lead you to the Flare pick up which is needed early in the game.
Area 04
The Weapons Storage Cave
You'll start outside, head to the right and you'll come to three Stone Pillars that block the cave entrance. Duck and use your arm to yank each of them out of your way. Inside the cave is pitch dark so be sure to visit Area 13 and grab the Flares before entering. With the flares in your inventory, you'll now be able to see the inside of the cave. You'll notice that it is littered with spiked pits. Swing your way over the hazards and to the right. There you will find a shaft leading up but before you climb up there, make sure you visit the Communication Terminal at the base of the shaft.
Fight your way up the shaft. If you have grenades or the bazooka, you can find both of the secrets that are near by. Two platforms above the Comm Terminal and to the left of the soldier on the rock ledge you will find a destructible wall. Blow it up and enter the small room to collect the Secret Challenge 4. Find your way up to the next level. Watch out for the Close Combat Soldiers, they wield knives and can do some heavy damage. Blow up the wall behind the Close Combat Soldier at the top-left. Behind the broken wall, you will find a floor lined with spikes to the left. You'll need to swing over these to the far left (usually about two swings) and then quickly grapple onto the small platform along the leftmost wall. Continue to grapple yourself up this narrow shaft of platforms. At the top, you'll need to go to the right then drop down and quickly latch onto the small notch above the ledge to the right. Climb up here to find more spikes, this time leading to the right. This is the tricky part. You'll need to swing quite a few times to the far right where you'll find a Yashichi waiting for you on a small ledge. Once you've grabbed it, drop down the shaft.
You'll find yourself back at the top of the Comm Terminal shaft. Make your way to the right and remove more stone pillars from your path. Continue to the right, you will see an Extra Live above you. You can't get it from here, you need to go up and around and cross a narrow room lined with spikes...it's tough. Swing your way to the right from small platform to small platform. Climb up the ones to the far right and quickly unload on the Shielded Soldier. Tossing a grenade would not be unwise. Climb up above and use the door in the top right corner.
Make your way to the right down the blue corridor. Enemies will appear in front of you so keep a stream of bullets flowing in that direction. Occasionally, a soldier will pop out of a door in attempts to ambush you. If you stay ducked, and constantly firing you should manage fairly well. Exit through the door at the far right end.
Boss: 1st Platoon
After the brief exchange in words, make your way back to the left. The platform above you there is climbable. Grapple up there and duck and take out what guards you see fit to take out. They will continue to respawn so don't try and kill them all. You're after the man in charge who happens to been way on the right side of and on top a vent duct that you can use your are on. However, from the platform on the left, you can swing across the area by using the ceiling. Quickly swing all the way over to the right side where you can perch on a single air duct. Kneel and unload on mister medals and he should go down with relative ease.
You will be rewarded with the Plasma Rifle for completing this area.
Area 15
Here you'll find the second set of Challenge Rooms. In the very top right you will find the Green Comms Chip just through the door.
Area 05
The Construction Site
This stage is much more vertical that it is wide. Fight and climb your way up to a long platform. You may think that this is as high as you can go however, you can use your arm on those searchlights. Use the searchlight on the far right of the platform. Once you've latched onto it, reel yourself in and climb on top of the light itself. You won't stand on it very long so quickly grapple to the platform above to continue your ascent. Blast away any enemy soldiers on your way up and you will soon come to a Communication Terminal.
After the Communication Terminal proceed up the stage. You will next come to a few Droid Sprinkler Cannons. Beam weapons work well on these things. If you can get above it, you can also easily killed it with a grenade by dropping it down onto it. Above you will encounter a couple Propeller Droid. These guys will fire a vertical laser downwards but you can simply duck under it. Hitting them with barrels works well, but you just don't have that many at your disposal. When you run out, shoot them with your bionic arm to stun them which will make them fly low enough for you to unload on them with a beam weapon. As you continue upwards, make sure you take out each of these propeller droids as they can follow you and gang up on you. Fight your way up to find a second Communication Terminal.
Next you'll need to climb above this communication terminal and use Air Vents that will toss you into the air to reach higher platforms. Keep this up and you'll reach another door at the very top to enter.
Boss: Siege Machine
Start this battle off by tossing a couple grenades in front of the tank-like tracks. You should notice that it has a orange "weak spot" there. Shooting this spot takes way too long so simply toss two grenades to blast the tracks off this giant tank. Now, if you stand too far away, the machine will simply sit there and unload grenades at you which won't do you much good. Instead charge up to the tank and stand in front of it until you hear it rev its engines. As soon as it starts to rev, book it back to the left as the machine charges at you. Take cover underneath the platforms.
Running into the platforms will "stun" the tank. Hop up onto the lower platform and stand near the right edge closest to the tank. Duck and shoot your bionic arm at the machine and you should latch onto that black bolt in front of you. Once you've attached yourself to it, rapidly tap B to unscrew the bolt and remove part of the machine's armor. It will now back off and repeat its grenade spitting so you need to repeat your teasing it to make it charge you again. Once you've stunned it, climb to the top platform where you'll need to remove two bolts, one while standing and one by kneeling. You'll need to do this in two different passes though.
Once you've removed the all the armor, the little man piloting this Siege Machine will be revealed. You can only shoot him from the top platform and while it's tempting to simply stand up there and blast him, this will most likely lead to you getting pummeled by grenades and now a giant cannon ball. The trick is to keep moving. It works well if you hop up onto the top platform, fire off a few shots then drop back down to the ground take cover then climb back up and repeat. Just imagine your creating a circle. Shoot the little dude enough and you'll defeat him and his giant tank. Or you can take the easy route and as before; go to the base of the Siege Machine and wait for him to rev his engine, then get out of there. He will slam the machine into the platform and he well fly out of the cockpit, killing him in one shot.
You will be given the Bazooka for completing this area.
Area 16
Head to the right and enter the first door you come to and collect the Iron Boots pick up. Just to the right of this room is another room that is home to an Extra Live. Further to the right is the Challenge Rooms. Not much else here.
Area 02
The Sewer Station
Make your way to the right. Swing from the two searchlights to avoid stepping on the land mine. Enter the sewer station through the door to the far right. Inside you'll face Slime Blobs. These gooey blobs of...stuff won't hurt you, they'll just sort of drag you around once they touch you. Have no fear though, you can simply use your arm to cling to something and free yourself.
If you want the Yashichi, drop into the first gap to the right of the entrance. Be ready to swing to the right as you fall. As soon as you pass the overhang, shoot your arm to latch onto the low ceiling. Swing yourself to the right above a pit of death. You'll find a platform there. Head to the right to find an elevator which will lead you to the hidden item you seek to the right. Ride the elevator back up to the top to reconnect with the rest of the level.
Make your way to the upper right. You will come to a spot where you'll be on a platform under a Tank Droid. There air vent here make it a little more difficult to climb up here. You want to climb up as far to the left as possible and unload on the tank while standing with the Plasma Rifle. Stand there and shoot while the tank approaches, don't worry it won't damage you as it pushes you off the ledge. Repeat this until it explodes then quickly kneel and take out the Mini-Tank Droid.
Climb straight up from here and take out another tank. At the top, make your way to the left. Swing from the ceiling to the platform to the left to find a Communication Terminal. After you use the terminal proceed to make your way straight down. You should find that you are now on the left side of the entrance. Straight down you will find an Extra Life. Head to the left along the bottom of the stage. You will eventually come to an elevator. Take it up. You should then find a fork in the vertical path. Take out all enemy soldiers as you climb. At the top where each path in the fork reconnect, you will find a Mechanical Lever at the top of each path. Attach your arm to each of these and tap the B button to pull the lever out. Once it locks into place do the same to the other one. Just above to the right you will find another elevator. Take it to the top and go left where you will find a door that you just unlocked by activating the mechanical levers. Inside you will unlock the Challenge Room, Secret Challenge 2.
Head to the right from here. Drop down, take out the tanks and drop down a little more. You should find the door leading to the boss kind of in the middle of the big circle you just did around the level.
Boss: Fabricator
You'll need to stand in the middle of the robotic half circle. Watch carefully for sparks to spit from one of the outlets. This means a robotic arm will shoot from there and hit you however, you can block it by using your own robotic arm. Block each of the attacks, this simply takes a watching eye and keen reflects. When the half circle retracts to reload itself, swing from the mechanic's chair to the left then attach your arm straight up under the center of the machine. Retract your own arm to raise yourself up and you'll be able to fire at the little guy in his chair from here.
You will be given the Shotgun for completing this area.
Area 14
FSA Camp
Head to the right. Enter the first door to unlock some more Challenge Rooms. Further right you'll find a room with the Blue Comms Chip.
Area 06
The Docks
Start by using your Bazooka to clear the path in front of you. Know that you can only clear it with the bazooka, meaning the stage is basically locked until you get it. Head to the right and swing from the searchlights while avoiding the bouncing spiked balls of death. Be sure to take out the mini-tanks in front of you before blinding swinging to some of the platforms. As you come to the large structure, make your way to the top and to the right. You will come to a ledge and will have to swing your way to the far right by only using searchlights. Hopefully you've been practicing. To the right you will eventually need to drop down due to the fact that you run out of lights. Below you will find a Communication Terminal. From here, you'll need to exit to the right which will lead you to another section of the stage.
This next section will force you to become a barrel dodging master. Go to the right then climb up. However, if you have the Plasma Rifle and want the upgrade for it, go to the far right bottom corner of the rolling barrels portion of this area. You'll come to a ledge and what seems like nothing. What you want to do is drop off the ledge to the right, then latch on to the underside of the ledge itself to the left. You want to be just to the left of the little light. Once you've stopped swing and are simply hanging, drop down to what would be your death. There is a platform below that is the width of the door that its home to. Land here...which may take a few tries. Inside you'll need to use your Plasma Rifle on the two Trigger Blocks in the corners. Hitting these will unlock a door which will lead you to the Plasma Rifle Upgrade.
There are Air Vents littered about. Use them to help you "jump" over the barrels. Take out all the Barrel Droids along the way. This will cut down on the number of barrels you face. Carefully make your way up to the very top where you'll find the door to the boss.
Boss: D-1 Beetle v2
Like before, you'll need to hurl barrels at this robot's weak spot. It will be underneath to start with. You really need to time your barrel retrieval though. When facing off against the device, attach your arm to the lower hanging ceiling and wait for it to fire some missiles at you. As soon as it fires, raise yourself up to dodge the projectiles. Quickly drop back down and run to the barrels on the left. Pick one up and hurry back to the right, you should be able to just about make it under the robot by the time it fires another set of rockets. Wait until your under the flying machine to throw the barrel so you hit the under belly with the arc. When the robots drops, stand close but not too close and unload on it with your bazooka.
When it revives itself, the weak spot will rotate to the top and you'll need to climb up the higher platform. Again, time your barrel grabbing carefully. Hitting the weak spot on top is a bit easier. Once you do, drop back down and hit it with more rockets. Using the bazooka you can most likely destroy the machine in two rounds. If not, simply repeat this process until it's done for.
Completing this area will get you the Power Claw.
Area 03
The Secret Mountain Pass Base
Use the Power Claw to clear the path and gain access to the level. Just to the right you will need to swing over two pits of Quicksand. You probably won't be able to completely clear the second pit but hit the ground running to the right and then grapple your way out of the deadly sand. If that wasn't enough, you'll now need to keep an ear out for some Bear Traps that are littered all along this cliffside. They make a scratching like noise to warn you. When you hear it quickly move. You must ascent this mountainside and veer left a bit. Use the Shotgun here can be fun. Climb up from under an enemy and just blow them away. At the very top-left you will find the entrance to the base.
Inside the base, drop off the ledge with the shotgun in your hands. As you fall, you can simply blast each enemy that is hiding in the nooks along the way. Drop down another wider shaft and swing to the left just before you land on some spikes to collect the Extra Life. Climb straight up above the extra man and enter the Communication Terminal. After that, swing to the right, be sure to watch out for the spikes that line the floor. Keep swinging to the right and on the final upswing before the wall you will see a shaft leading up. Quickly grapple straight up and climb up here. Take the various moving elevators to the top where you will find a Yashichi which will count as a level secret. Once you have collected this, make your way to the left and you'll drop back down to the start. Head back down to the communication terminal to the the right again. Instead of going up this time though, drop down and you'll find and elevator. It won't go all the way down to the floor so drop down to the left. This should put you on the lowest level next to some spikes. From here you'll need to do somewhat dangerous swing to the left and over the spikes. To the far left you'll find the door that leads to the boss.
Boss: Power Pod
Quickly climb up to the top platform on either side of the Power Pod. Watch carefully for the faint white line which will warn you before a laser is fired. Swing from the orange lights to fling yourself underneath the main contraption and then attach your are directly to the underside. Your extra weight will force the machine to lower. Keep an eye out for floating bombs as you descend and shoot them before they hit you. When the Power Pod touches the lower platforms it will be "stunned" and ready for you to unload on it. You should be able to defeat the pod in one round using the Bazooka but if not, simply repeat the process.
Completing this area will give you the Permit
Area 08
The Hi-Tech Fortress
Go to the right and enter the Hi-Tech Fortress. Unlike previous stages, this one features a lot more doors and is a lot easier to get lost in. You'll also encounter a locked Boss Door. Here, you'll be forced to find and enter the level's two Communication Terminals and Contact H.Q. from both which will unlock the Boss Door. Refer to the map to follow along.
From the Start in Section 1, begin to blast and climb your way up. Try to keep an eye on the right side. You should early on in your climb find a platform that leads to what seems like a dead end with a tall shaft above you. Stand just under the overhang to the left, where you came from. You want to swing from this and then in midair shoot your arm straight up to catch the ledge high above. Pull yourself up and once here, shoot your Shotgun, which will make you swing, then hurl yourself to the left and latch onto the ceiling of the shaft above you. You should now be able to see the door to the right. Again, fire your shotgun to get swing and land on the platform. Enter this hidden door to find the Shotgun Upgrade. Drop back down and then continue your ascent to the upper left of Section 1. You will probably quickly notice that the soldiers here will take a few more rounds than previous areas. Climb up to the top left and leave this section through Door A (to the left). Section 2 is tiny, simply run to the left, kill the soldier and exit through the door on the opposite side (Door F).
You will now enter Section 4 which is host to a total of four doors and an elevator. The door second from the top is the Boss Door but as you will notice, it is locked. Take the elevator to the very top door and exit through the top-most door (Door G). This is Section 5. Here you will find the first Communication Terminal. Drop down, step into this room and Contact H.Q. Hack the computer if you want or just leave. The next drop to the right is a bit tricky. There will be a soldier you pass standing on a platform to the right, you want to shoot you arm just after you pass him so you latch onto the underneath of his platform and swing and land on the platform below him. Here, you will find Door H which will lead you to Section 6.
From Door H you will appear in the top-left corner of Section 6. Blast your way to the right where you will quickly find the second Communication Terminal. Run inside and Contact H.Q. Now that you've contacted home-base from both terminals, the Boss Door will be unlocked. You can go about getting back there again several ways, but continuing to the right will lead to find an Extra Life. From the Comm Terminal, head to the top-right corner of Section 6 where you will find a 1Up for yourself. From here it's probably easiest to descend straight down. Drop Grenades on the enemies below to clear you path down to Door C. Before entering however, ready your Plasma Rifle.
Enter Section 3 with Door C and quickly take out the soldier's energy shield. Once it's destroyed, switch to a more effective weapon against the humans. You can ignore the soldier up top and simply exit through the door along the opposite side, Door D. This will return you to Section 4. Hop on the elevator and take it up to the Boss Door.
Boss: 2nd Platoon
Like the previous battle, the general will send countless waves of men after you so it's best to end this battle quick. Quickly climb up onto the platform above you. Clear any enemies to the right then swing over to the commander's longer platform. There isn't a ledge on the opposite side of him this time so you'll have to take him out from the left side. Kill and troops that appear on the platform with you and ignore the ones down below. When you are clear, shoot at the commander while alternating between standing and kneeling. The bullets fired between these stances should hit and damage the commander. Unload on him in this fashion until he's defeated.
You will be awarded Shin Guards for completing this area.
Area 09
The Waste Disposal Facility
Head to the right and enter the facility. You will now encounter Cable Backpack Soldiers. These troops can grapple straight up above them to dodge your fire. However, in narrow hallways like this one, an upgraded shotgun can still take them out while you are on the ground and they are in the air. Proceed down the steps to the right and take out the Mini-Tank Droid. Now, hop down the shaft and face the left. Be ready with to shoot your arm as you pass a narrow corridor on the left. This is not mandatory, it's just to access a secret area later on. Swing your way into this corridor and take out the guard and then the Mini-Tank Droid to the far left. Drop down the shaft to the left and you'll land next to a locked door. You'll need to come back here later, but for now you simply need to unscrew the bolted barrier to the right.
Past the barrier to the right you will meet up with the shaft you originally took down but swung out of. Blast your way through the enemies to the right. Climb up the wider shaft with the platforms and take out the enemies waiting for you at the top. To the right you will see another narrow shaft. There is an Extra Life that can collected by dropping into it. Simply drop in and shoot your arm to grab the extra man on the way down. Now climb your way back up like you just did. Hop over the gap to the right with air vent then use one of the other air vents to pop into the air enough so you can grapple onto the platform above you. Climb up, take out the soldier and climb up some most to find the Communication Terminal.
Next, is a continuation of optional task for those seeking secret areas. Skip down to the next paragraph if you wan to press on. To the left of the Comm Terminal you'll find a blue Trigger Block. Shoot this and take notice of another one above you. You'll need to go to the right and grapple up onto the moving conveyor belt with spikes. Stay as close to the left edge of the belts as you can. Most of the belts have two pairs of spikes that pop up then it's clear for a moment. When it is, climb up and run into the small corridor to the left and shoot the second Trigger Block. There are two more above you and you'll need to repeat this process of getting to them. Carefully navigate the spiked belts and shoot both of the remaining Trigger Blocks. Now you need to make your way back down in between the belts to the Comm Terminal level. Drop back down the shaft via the Retractable Blocks and make your way all the way back down to the bottom level. Head all the way to the left and as long as you undid the bolt barrier from the other side, you'll be able to enter the now open door to the far left. In here you will collect the Yashichi. Make your way back to the Comm Terminal.
From the Communication Terminal, you need to navigate your way through the conveyor belts to the upper right of the section. Once there, you'll find some platforms to climb up where you will discover the boss door at the very top.
Boss: Siege Machine v2
Here, you'll be facing the Siege Machine again. Quickly drop a couple grenades in front of the tracks to destroy them. Now tease the machine to make it revs its engines and and sprint to the left. Run under the overhang and it will smash into it and clear the path to the left for you. Tease the machine again and run to the left to take cover under the platforms, but don't stop running. The machine will crush the first three sections it hits then finally come to a stop. Now, hop up onto the a ledge and pull a bolt for its chest. Once you've removed the bolt, repeat the teasing and running process two more times and remove the remaining two bolts. When the armor has been removed, hit the cockpit a couple times with the bazooka to defeat the little man piloting the machine.
You will be rewarded with the Vector Cannon for completing this area.
Area 17
FSA Camp
Grapple up and enter the first door to collect the Yellow Comms Chip. Back outside and further to the right you'll find another simulator room where will unlock more Challenge Rooms. Continue to the right and enter the next room and grab the Extra Life from the top-right corner.
Area 07
The POW Camp
You will need to have unlocked the Vector Cannon to gain access to this area. Go to the right and shoot this new weapon at an angle to hit both the Trigger Blocks in the cliffs to the right of the locked door. Hitting both of these will unlock the door and lead you to the POW Camp.
Move to the far bottom-right taking out all the soldiers along the way. Climb up to the next level and clear all the Tank Droids with the bazooka to the left. Zig-zag your way up the platforms destroy all that stand in your way. When you reach the very top-right of the mountainside, you will find yourself under a series of red platforms and tall scaffolds. Begin to climb your way up to the top-right of these and you'll discover a Communication Terminal at the very top. To the right of this terminal you will find four tall searchlight of varying heights. Swing from these to each the ledge to in the top-rightmost corner to unlock Secret Challenge 6.
From the Comm Terminal, make your way to the left. You'll need to swing from the metal boxes suspended from the wires all the far left where you will find the boss door.
Boss: Gottfried Groeder
Gottfried has a bionic arm like you and can swing and use it just like you. He does however have a deadly energy attack you do not have. Gottfried will climb to one of the four platforms and charger his energy attack. It will eventually launch a ball of energy at you which you need to avoid. The trick is to get ready to swing to Gottfried's platform from the middle. When he finally stops moving, hurl your body at him and hit him with some shotgun rounds. Hitting him will interrupt his energy blast. When his life gets to halfway, he'll automatically run away. Follow him through the door.
You'll now run down a hallway. Watch the ceiling as he will try to grab you from above. Avoid his mechanical arm and exit to the far right.
Here, you'll face him like you did in the first room, but in a much larger room making it somewhat harder to catch him. Focus on dodging his attacks and just wait for him to land near you to launch your own attack. Defeat him and enter the door to the right.
You will rescue Super Joe when you complete this area.
Revisit Area 07 to with the machine gun collect Joe's Machine Gun Upgrade. At the start of the area, instead of going through the door, drop down the gap to the right and be ready to swing to the right to avoid death. Swing to the right under the overhang and then grapple onto the ledge to the right. Pull yourself up and climb up all the platforms until you reach a locked door next to a Trigger Block with the machine gun symbol on it. Shoot the block with the machine gun to unlock the door and collect Joe's Machine Gun Upgreade.
Area 18
FSA Camp
Go to the right and enter the first door to unlock more Challenge Rooms. Climb up to the top of this area and talk to the soldier next to the locked door. Once you have rescued Super Joe, this soldier will unlock the door which leads you to Joe's Machine Gun.
Area 19
Unlock the more Challenge Rooms via the first door then make your way up to the top. To the right, you will find a soldier guarding a door and will tell you they can't get the prisoner to talk. Enter this room and proceed to hit him with you bionic arm until he talks and gives you the locations of some Secret Tunnels to explore via the map screen.
Secret Tunnels 14-17
You can simply try to navigate through this area or you can go for the Secret Dossier. This is best done with the Vector Cannon and its upgrade. There are five Trigger Blocks kind of hidden through out this area. You need to hit them all. The first one is directly above the first moving platform. Simply shoot it with the angled laser beams. Pay attention to the sound it makes when it is hit. On the next stationary platform, you can either attempt to drop off the edge and cling underneath this platform and shoot the second trigger block, or you can simply kneel and hit it with the vector cannon. You have to be in the correct spot, its near the middle-right of the platform.
After some swinging and vent climbing, you'll find yourself on a tall narrow vent next to some spikes. To the top left you should be able to see the third trigger block which can be hit with the vector cannon. Hop onto the vertically moving platform and then suspend yourself underneath it. At the bottom of its path you will see the forth trigger block to the left. shoot it with the shotgun then swing to the right and cling to the horizontal vent shaft.
Get out the vector cannon again and wait for the bottom-most platform to appear. Swing to it and quickly duck under the spikes it passes. Quickly stand and shoot the trigger block. You'll notice that there is a track for another moving platform to the far right of your bottom one. You need to wait until the fourth time your platform reaches the right to swing to it. This takes a lot of patience. Swing to this elusive platform and ride it to the far right. You'll need to time you leap off the side of it just right in order to cling onto a stationary platform to the farthest right. There you will find the Secret Dossier.
Secret Tunnels 15-18
You'll need to drop down and hang from underneath the first moving platform. Ride it to the ride and then drop and swing from the various platforms to the right. You will eventually find the Helmet. It's right out in the open.
Area 10
The Tech Assembly Plant
Enter the plant to the right. Get out your Plasma Rifle or Vector Cannon (whichever you feel more comfortable with) and begin to take out the Droid Sprinkler Cannons on your way to the right. You will eventually come to a pit of spikes below a platform lined with spikes on top. Attach your arm and reel yourself in under the platform of spikes, don't climb onto this. Fire a shotgun round to get swinging again then throw yourself back to the left and cling onto the underneath of the platform high above you. Climb up here and take out the soldier. Get yourself on the left side of the two crates by swinging there. Now face right and swing out and quickly grapple up under the small platform above. Climb up once more and take out the guard on the left and then grab the Extra Life to the right.
To the left, you'll need to climb up onto a small platform and then swing to the left twice and land on another platform above some spikes. You'll also need to avoid being shot by the sprinkler cannon on your dismount. From here, you can reach the Vector Cannon Upgrade which is to the upper right, above where that last sprinkler cannon was. Swing yourself up there starting from the low over hang. Once there, use Vector Cannon to hit the two Trigger Blocks in the corners to unlock the door and collect your upgrade.
Back down to the left, where you deviated paths, climb up the narrow shaft of platforms. At the top you'll find a pair of holes which produce Slime Blobs that like to drag you around. Make you way down the left shaft. At the base, you'll need to duck to get under the spikes. Either ride a blob underneath them or duck and slide yourself under them. Climb up this new side and back down the other to finally come to the Communication Terminal.
To the left of the Comm Terminal, you should grapple and hang from the low ceiling. When the moving platform floats under you, drop on top of it and duck. You'll pass under some low ceiling spikes then need to quickly hop off of the platform onto some steps to the left. Head down the steps then make your way down the shaft to the corridor at the bottom. Head to the left and climb the narrow passage to find the boss door at the very top.
Boss: Power Pod v2
Similar to the last battle except now you will need to weigh it down from underneath to lower it, then quickly swing around to stand on top of the Power Pod to make it touch the ground. Avoid the lasers and climb up to the top platform. Swing from the red light and then cling to the pod's underside. Hang from here and shoot any floating robot droids that may try to hit you. When you've lowered the pod to the bottom, quickly climb up to the top again and then swing out and land on the roof of the pod. Remain here until you force it into the ground. Quickly hop off and launch rockets into the cockpit. You can destroy it in one round but if you don't, simply repeat the process until you do.
Completing this area will grant you the Health Recovery Pills.
Area 11
The Furnace
Once you've landed, make your way to the right and go through the door. Inside this heated building, you'll need to make your way to the right by crossing over the hot molten floors via the moving platform. To the right you'll need to swing up to a higher platform, be ready with a powerful weapon to take out the Close Combat Soldier waiting for you. Swing your way all the way to the right. On the bottom platform you will find an Extra Life waiting for you in the corner.
Along the very right wall, climb our way up the shaft. Use the Vector Cannon to take out the Close Combat Soldiers waiting for you. At the top to the right, you will find the Communication Terminal.
To the left of the terminal, you will be able to grab Secret Challenge 7. From the terminal, go to the left of the platform until you are standing next to a concrete block. Attach your arm to the ceiling and swing out to the left and drop down below. You should land perfectly on a small platform in between some molten floor and a gap. Fall into the pit and then quickly grapple yourself into a small corridor during the fall. To the left you will see a small hole for your to extend your arm through. Do this to latch onto a bolted barrier and pull the bolt out to remove the barrier. You can make it there from here, so you need to drop back into the shaft you were falling through then go to the right and make your way back up and around to the comm terminal and the concrete block. This time when you swing out from behind the concrete block, grapple onto the cylinders hanging from the ceiling to swing to the left more. You only really need to swing once more and you'll land on the another platform. You should be able to see the last gap you dropped in on the right, but you want to drop into the gap on the left now and then swing into the corridor you removed the bolted barrier from. Enter the door here to unlock Secret Challenge 7.
To proceed to the boss, you'll need to swing from behind the concrete block by the comm terminal and continue to swing to the left by using the large cylinders hanging from the ceiling. Keep swing to the far left and you will come to the far left wall and find the boss door.
Boss: Fabricator v2
This plays out kind of like a game of memory. Sparks will spit out of three arm ports in sequence. You need to remember their order then counter them by hitting them with your own bionic arm. This can be tricky but the more you panic the worst off you'll perform. Stay calm and try to find a rhythm. Once you've deflected this machines arm a few times, it will need to reload which will bring the driver into range. Swing to the left from under his chair and then cling to the canister chambers in the center. Pull yourself up and then unload on him. Repeat this process until he and his machine have been destroyed.
You will be rewarded with the Bulletproof Vest for completing this area.
Area 12
The Imperial Headquarters
Head to the right and go down the first elevator. Yashichi hunters, go through the door on the left while others take the elevator to the right and skip this paragraph. Take out the two mini-tanks and examine this tall room. The Yashichi is in the very top-right corner. Go to the left and climb to the top platform. Swing from the ceiling and grapple to the edge of the first overhang and pull yourself up and simply hang there. It's important to hang from a retracted arm so you are as high as you can get. Shoot a shotgun round to get swinging then hurl yourself to the right and instantly shoot your arm straight up to catch onto the higher ceiling overhang. You should now be able to see the ledge your aiming for. Don't try and reach it yet. Instead, fully retract your arm again to be touching the ceiling while hanging still, tap down to drop then fire your arm out an an angle to the right to cling onto the rightmost portion of the overhanging ceiling. From here you should be able to easily swing to the platform to the right and claim the Yashichi.
Take the second elevator down and enter the Communication Terminal to the right. When you are done, hop back on the elevator and ride it down (ignore the door opposite of the terminal on the left). Use the Vector Cannon as you ride the elevator down to clear your enemies before you even pass them. At the bottom of the elevator shaft, you will find an electric barrier to the right and a door to the left. Enter the door and instantly begin to climb vertically up the platforms. These feature moving electric floors and it's best to simply climb straight up to avoid them all. Enter the first door you come to. Use the vector cannon to clear your path as you ascend this wide room. Take out all the sprinkler cannon and mini-tanks. At the very top you will see a Mechanical Lever with a lightning symbol on it. Use your bionic are to cling to this and pull it down. This will deactivate the electric barrier. Exit this room the same way you entered and again, quickly climb straight up the platforms to avoid the electric floors. At the top of the shaft you will find another door to enter. This will lead you back to the previous door you ignored near the comm terminal. Hop back on the elevator and ride it down to the bottom and now go to the right and past the now deactivated barrier.
Just past the first barrier you turned off is another elevator. Take it downwards and enter the first door you come to on the right. Use the vector cannon to clear your path. Go to the right and then down. At the bottom go to the left then climb up to find another mechanical lever with lightning on it. Pull this lever out to deactivated another barrier. Exit this room and continue to ride downwards on the elevator while taking out enemies with the vector cannon. At the bottom to the left you will find another elevator. Take this one down to find a long narrow corridor to the right lined with floor spikes. This is pretty difficult and will probably take a few tries. It seems that the best thing to do is simply hold Right and tap your Arm button as fast as possible. This will hopefully keep you along the ceiling and away from the spikes.
To the far right past the spikes, you will find the boss door which will lead you to the end of the area.
The Albatross
The Ultimate Weapon
This level is about three times larger than any previous one. It will be broken up to ease the reading of this section.
Three Doors
After the brief opening dialogue exchange, enter this giant fortress through the door to the far right. Once inside, take the elevator up to the top where you will find a corridor leading to the right. You will see three doors, each with a symbol above them, and three barriers that block you from going any further. You will need to enter each door and turn off their respected barriers out here. Enter the door to the far left first.
This is the "hot" room or rather, the room that controls the pistons. Inside, make your way to the left and drop down into the gap. You soon land in a small corridor and will need to move to the right and drop into another shaft to reach the very bottom. Enter the door to the left at the very base of this section. Go to the right and grapple onto the Mechanical Lever. Use your weight to pull it down until it locks into place. This will actually activate the pistons through out the compound. Exit this small room and make your way along the base of the larger room to the right. Avoid being crushed by the fist set of pistons, then stand on the rising ones to the right and grapple to the platform above. Grapple up again to find yourself next to a pit of spikes and a half rotating platform. Wait for it to reach your side then quickly hop on and ride it to the other side. Next is a pit of spikes below a full rotating platform. Wait for it to pass by you to walk on it and then wait to grapple to the platform above when the moving one is at the height of its rotation. Get your Vector Cannon ready and climb up to the higher ledge above. Blast the Sprinkler Cannon to the left with some bouncing laser beams. Next you'll see a row of platforms that flap up for you to stand on then flap down which will drop you. You will need to become extremely good at these for a later part of this level. For now, simply step onto the platform next to you as soon as it pops up, then walk onto the next as it pops up and before the first one collapses again. Keep moving to the left in this fashion and you will eventually reach the other side. If you can, fire your Vector Cannon near the end of these flapping platforms to take out another Sprinkler Cannon before it shoots you. To the left you will find a gap with three pistons going horizontally across. Hop onto them and stand along the left wall of the shaft. When the pistons retract you will fall and land on the ledge you dropped off from before. Climb back up the shaft to the left. At the top you will notice that the once empty hallway is now littered with pistons. Simply make your way in between the pistons one at a time and then leave through the door you entered.
Back in the main hallway, enter the door in the middle, the "gas" room. Be careful in here as barrels can explode and damage you with poisonous gas. Grab the barrel next to the entrance and toss it to the far right. When the gas clears, drop down below and wait for the stream of the gas to pause before dropping down the next platform. Slowly make your way down the shaft of platform and streams of bad gas. Make your way all the way down to the bottom left. Get out the Vector Cannon again and shoot it as you sprint across the platforms that retract after you touch them. Sprint all the way to the left and grapple you way up the shaft along the left side. At the top you'll need to carefully take out the Sprinkler Cannons with the Vector Cannon while avoiding hitting the barrels on either side. Enter the door at the very top and carefully make your way in between the streams of gas. Know that you can put your bionic arm well into the gas without being hurt. Pull the Mechanical Level to the far left until it locks into place. This will stop all the gas streams. Now navigate yourself back the way you came and exit this area.
Now enter the third door, the one marked with the lightning bolt. Inside the electric room, take the elevator down and then carefully proceed through the laser beams. Again, your arm and even front foot can be touching the beam without you getting hurt. Make to the right and drop down the shaft. You will find another beam just before a small pit that is actually lined with a deadly laser. Grapple through the vertical beam and wait for it to momentarily disappear. Swing to the left over the floor laser, let go then quickly grapple to the ceiling straight above you which should stop your swinging. In front of you to the left is another vertical laser. Use the shotgun to get you swinging again and then swing to the platform to the left when the laser disappears. Take the elevator down to the left to find a large room that open up to the right. While the round cylinders are tempting, try to swing from the ceiling all the way to the right where you will find another elevator. Take it down and pull on the Mechanical Lever to the right. Continue down on the elevator and you'll need to navigate another hallway lined with beams. Climb the shaft to the left and then out onto the platform to the left. Here you will find some moving electric floors. Swing over the danger and make your way down to the bottom floor where you will find another lever to pull. Once that one is locked into place, climb back up past the electric floors and go to the far right to find another lever to pull. This will kill the power to the base. Make your way back to the left. The floors won't be electric any more, in the very bottom left you'll find a shaft to drop into. Prep your Vector Cannon and let loose with it as soon as you land down below. This call corridor is lined with Sprinkler Cannons and soldiers. Make your way to the right while unloading your Vector Cannon. Climb up the shaft to the very right and you'll eventually come to a room with more cylinders in the middle. Climb onto one of the lower ones and then grapple to one above while sliding off. Do the same for the top cylinder to reach the platform above. Climb this shaft to the top and head to the left where you will meet back up with the entrance and the main hallway.
Now that all three rooms have been activated/deactivated, you may proceed to the right and exit through the door along the right wall.
Outside
This next section can be extremely daunting at first. Most of your traveling will be done via retractable platforms. The most important thing to do is stay calm and follow the platforms. They will be your guide. Stand on the left edge of the starting platform and attach your arm to the structure to the left. You need to time your swing with the retractable platforms to the left of you. Once you land on them, step to the left with them then grapple straight up from there to a stable platform. From here swing to the left and grapple onto the stable platform along the bottom. Pull yourself up and eye the retractable ones above you. You'll need to grapple straight up then follow the platforms to the left and then drop off the left side to land on more retractable platforms below. Most of this area is a leap of faith that the platforms will be there. Quickly follow the platforms to the left as they rise and then grapple your way straight up along the fat left side. The platforms should be timed with each other so you shouldn't have too much trouble. At the top, you'll need to quickly swing to the right and land on more retractable platforms. Move along these to the right until you run out of platform. Stand here, and the platform will drop you directly onto a stable platform. Take a moment to breathe. From here, you need to swing to the right and land on the narrow platforms. Carefully continue to the right as they rise in front of you and fall behind you. Grapple to the stable platform to the right. Here you'll need to drop off the right side and hang underneath this platform swinging. Watch the retractable platforms to the right and time your release with them. Land on these narrow guys and make your way to the right with them. At the end of these, stand there and the last one will drop you onto another stable platform. Proceed to walk to the right across the next section of flapping platforms. Grapple to the safety of the stable platform to the right and climb up. You will now need to grapple and climb straight up then to the left onto more retractable platforms. Move to the left on the unstable platforms. You'll at one point need to drop down and to the left to land on more retractable platforms. Keep carefully moving to the left and you will eventually come to a stable platform with a doorway on it. Grapple up here and reenter this giant base.
1 vs 100
Back inside you'll be mainly blasting your way through a ton of enemy soldiers. Shoot your way to the right, then up and then to the right some more until you reach an elevator on the far right wall. Take this one up, then you'll need to switch to another one. Ride it as far up as you can and then climb the shaft and pull the Mechanical Lever at the very top. Drop back down the elevator and ride it down to the first corridor on the left. Run to the far left and take out the Mini-Tank Droids then pull the Mechanical Lever. Make your way back to the far right where you can now enter the door on the opposite side of the elevator. Clear this area out using the Vector Cannon. Climb up to the top tier and pull on the two Mechanical Levers. Once you've done this, you can leave this area to reenter the one with the elevator. Take the elevator up once again and climb up to the top. Now swing yourself to the left to land on the raised ledge. Drop onto the moving platform and then wait along the left side of it. When it moves back to the right, walk off the left edge as you pass the end of the left window in the background. As you fall, grapple onto the low overhang and swing onto the lower moving platform to the left. Quickly grapple straight up to find a stable platform. From here you can either use the other moving platforms to reach the left side, or you can grapple and swing your way there if you good. Climb up the shaft to the left and use the Vector Cannon to clear the mini-tanks. Before pulling the Mechanical Lever in the larger room above, use the Vector Cannon to take out the Sprinkler Cannons. Pull the lever, head to the right and ride the elevator up. Kill the soldier in the small corridor to the left where you'll find another elevator. Take this on up and you'll find the boss door to the right.
Boss:
The Leader's Helicopter
After the scene unfolds on the rooftop, make your way to the left with your Bazooka Upgrade. This will allow you to steer rockets in midair using the Right Analog Stick. To the far left you will find an elevator between two Trigger Blocks with the rocket symbol on them. Practice using the remote controlled rockets as your maneuver them to hit each of the Trigger Blocks. Now ride the elevator to the top to face your foe.
The Helicopter will fly into the background and fire rockets at you. You need to stand in the middle of the area and do your best at deflecting them with your bionic arm. Watch them carefully as they will show you which way they will be flying in from. Once you've deflected an onslaught of missiles, the chopper will fly in and begin to unload it's machine gun like energy balls. As it does this run under the machine to take cover, you'll need to run all the way to the back of it to be safe, and fire your own rocket. You'll need to pilot the rocket up and around the helicopter and hit it in the cockpit at the front. This is difficult. It will eventually pause for a moment and give you time to hit it, but it's best not to rely on this. Once you've hit it a couple times it will back off and fire two lasers at you and thrust itself in one direction. You need to run in the direction it goes as to stay in the middle of the laser beams. This too is extremely difficult. When it flies back in close, hit it with another rocket or two and it will soon go down for good.
The Escape
Make you way down the elevator and go through the door to the left of the bottom. Head to the right and climb up the platforms. Swing to the left at the top where you will encounter Gottfried Groeder again. Once the fight begins, just ignore him and climb the platforms to the very left. Keep climbing and you will loose him and eventually escape and complete the game.
