Chapter One

The Beginning

Here you’ll get your first crack with Shu. Start looking around and then decide on going to the Windmill Well to get some bonuses. Then, head to the water pond and you’ll see the Blue Dragon insignia and a series of cutscenes. After the cutscenes, you’ll see a geriatric man and you’ll be talking with some townspeople. Before battling the Land Shark, walk backward to a rock hill. Behind that rock hill will be a young boy that will give you an item that you can use now, or better yet, save for you weaker party members that join up later in the story. Then follow the path laid out here right to the first battle.

Battle - Land Shark

He'll run immediately at you, so you'll want to watch for when he makes his turns, then go for him. This is where he can be hurt worst and it's easy after this to just time your attacks for when he turns. And that, as they say, is that. After finishing him off, talk with Jiro and watch another series of cutscenes before proceeding on to the next mission.

Ancient Ruins

(If you got an item from a young boy you may want to use it on Kluke now)

Kluke and Jiro have joined your group here and you all awaken in the ancient ruins. You'll see a trio of treasure chests located nearby and you'll want to crack them open because they have useful things like medicine and crystals inside. The third chest is locked and you'll have to wait until later to unlock it. Go down a way and kill the baddie guarding this last chest, which is known as Thorn Glass. Open it and save, then take out the Phoenix Talon and watch yet another series of cutscenes. Ah cutscenes, this game has many.

The Flying Fortress

Go the opposite side of the chest and you'll grab the Creature Compendium. Then, watch some cutscenes and proceed forth to be slaughtered.

Battle - Nene

This is a no-go, so just let it happen. You'll get a chance for redemption later.

Once the cutscenes have ended, you'll awaken in a strange room. Save close by and then search around for extras and you should find some medicine and other goodies, chief among them the stone necklace. Equip the necklace and then proceed to rid the room of the horde of bad guys who will try and overrun it. After you've dispatched all of them, go to the next room and shut the metal door here prior to the robots reaching you. Cutscene, cutscene, whole lotta cutscenes. You'll then be prompted to swallow the light sphere. Do it and you'll head into battle.

Battle - Mecha Robo

This is super easy. It only takes one or two blows to take out these guys. Kill 'em, then get in the ship and watch another series of cutscenes. If you need an easy level up, just kill them and and you will be at level 5 or 6, at which point you will unlock a new class. It's best to start off with Support Magic for Kluke, Barrier Magic for Jiro, and Assassin for Shu.

Mechat Crash Site

Save your game quickly here as the save point will pop up right away. Look around for a treasure chest full of goodies. Go to the crash site and head through the shattered yellow door here and open the chest by it to equip the stone bracelet. You'll next come to the world map and you'll be able to look for a trio of chests with more things like meds and the stone ring. Then, into the gate and you'll view a bit more cutscenes.

Lot Wilderness

Go eastward in until you find a chest with the thorn grass. Stay on the path until you see a chest atop a cliff. Knock the tree beneath the cliff over and use it to climb up and open the chest to grab the LV1 Flare. Head down and go down the path the other direction and you'll get some deodorant. Go to the next chest along the path and get some meds and the antidote and you'll see another chest with a scorpion holding fort. Kill it and get the stone ring from the chest. Keep moving on and fight the rat monster. Use the black magic and then crack open the chest next to get a phoenix talon. Below, you'll find another trio of chests with goodies in it and you'll have to fight a rat monster and then head back up top and you'll come to another chest with a blue wall. You can't open it, so worry about it later and then head to the small village up ahead.

Sheep Tribe Camp

You'll find a save spot early here, so do so. Then you'll want to crack open the treasure chest and you'll get some sleep powder. Then you'll see a group of item shops here, and you can choose between the item merchant, an accessory shop and a spell shop. You'll also want to consider purchasing some stone jewelry for your cohorts to ready them for the next battle.

Lot Wilderness - Part II

Head past the initial baddie here and go to the chest that's guarded by the Green Barrier. Knock that out of the way and grab the copper bracelet from the chest. Move on and you'll see another trio of treasure chests with three herb-type elements that will strongly benefit you. You'll come across another chest that's blocked by scorpions. You can kill them and then crack the chest and get the light crystal. Head up and to the left a bit and you'll see another chest guarded by a baddie. Kill it and then open it and grab the 500 Gald. Look at the elements around and you'll stumble upon an antidote. Keep going and you'll eventually come to a check point. You'll be ready for the first game boss:

Boss Battle - Flamboyand Dinoram

Here, use your partymates with black magic skills to your advantage and that's all you'll really need. He's not much trouble as long as you use that. If you don't, you're screwed. So use it. Keep an eye out here for the chest close by as it contains some valuables. Then head right and you'll get a phoenix talon, which comes in handy. You'll see a set of robots coming up, and you'll want to take the opportunity there to save your game. If you'd like, you can then move along to the next floor, where you'll see two more chests that will give you valuables.

Boss Battle - Winking Patroller

This is pretty quickly finished, and after you're done you'll get a Warp Key. Use it to go between levels and go from treasure chest to treasure chest and you'll receive some medals and eventually you'll want to return to the third level. Go up the middle here and take out the robots here and you'll head through the door here to face the next boss.

Marumaro

Check out the pipes and valves here and you'll get some valuables. Then, grab an elevator ride to the bottom floor and crack open the trio of chests here to get three bonuses. Head through the door here and you'll be at a save point, which you need to take advantage of. Then ride the elevator up to level three and some seriously scary stuff.

Ancient Hospital Ruins

Crack open the chest here and you'll get a mental surge and a mobility balm and then hit the red switch for some light action. Then you'll want to go to your right and get some elixir from a chest and then grab the mega medicine, which is also present. Kill the small group of monsters gathered here and then go to the main room. There'll be a cutscene and then you'll open up the next chest you come across and pick up the invisible elixir. From there, go through and up the stairs to the next level. Open up the chest inside here and receive the medicine, before going to the large room to your left. Open up the chest here, grab the silver ring and go back to where you came from and pick up the path here. Hit the red switch on the path, lighten things up and then go to the room where it's still dark. Open up the chest here to get some gold and then grab the mega medicine here, too. Get on the stairs and go to the next level.

First thing here, hit the switch and move forward to the next switch, keeping things from getting too dark. Next, open the chest you'll come across and save. Get the medals from the chest and then go up and to your right to get a chest with a phoenix talon in it. Go down the stairs here and open up a pair or chests with both mega and ultra medicines. Go into the dark room here. Flip the switch and check out the monitor over on the wall. Use it to activate the elevator and then go to the second level. Go right here and into the dark room. Flip the switch and grab the key here that opens the doctor's office. Next, go to your right and use the key for the doctor's office.

Next, head back to the first level and grab the healing machine. Success!!!

Boss Fight - Ice Fire Wolves

This guy is hard to figure out what to do next. Look out for the boss elements here. If there is fire in the area, change the elements and use your water spell to reverse that. Next, use your magic crystal ring and its magic spell which will do some nice damage. You'll see a short cutscene, and after that you'll want to look around the room and open up the chests with poison powder and crystal bracelets. Next, go up to the next level and use the warp device to get to a point where you can save. Then you'll want to head through the next door, another cutscene and then you'll move along to the next level.

Lago Village

Use the save point near the entrance, and go near the crowd for another scene. Now go explore the town and open some chest containing Grand Shadow Crystal (around the tree near the entrance) 7x Medals and 1x Medal (back area). Now get inside the town hall for more scene. After you regain your control, open the treasure chest inside the house for Shadow Crystal and Medicine. There's also inn here if you want to rest. When you're ready, head outside the house, for more cutscenes. After the scene, head to the back area and climb up to the upper part of the town (dont forget to activate the Warp Sphere on the way) There's item and accessories shop here (spell shop is inside the town hall), so make sure to stock up your item. Keep going until you find an opening for a cave. Open the treasure chest nearby for 9x Medals. Head inside the cave and open the treasure chest for 3x Medal. The intersection here, one path will leads you to a locked chest. The other one to a open area with Marumaro.

Go talk to him for more scenes. After that , Marumaro will join your party. Once you regain controls of your characters, head outside the house and talk to the man near the entrance. Now head out to the world map. Here, you need to head to the Underground Cavern located on your world map. But before that, head back to the Wilderness area up north for a open area with some treasure chest containing : Emerald, Keloron Elixir, Poison Powder, Vitality Elixir, Mega Magical MEdicine, Invinsible Elixir, Stout Garlic, Shadow Crystal, and Magic Crystal Earring (guarded by Monster). This is also a perfect time to level up your party. Once you're done getting all the treasure chest above, head back to the town to heal and stock up/buy some spells...make sure to buy the "Ground" Spell. This is important as it will HIT all the ground enemies on the screen....also useful for the next upcoming boss battle ;) Now, to progress with the story, keep following the narrow path south until you arrives to a open area with marsh/swamp. Here, explore around this area for 5 treasure chest containing Stone Be Gone, Cooper Necklace, Grand Amethyst, Repeater Weed, and Mental Surge.

When you're ready, head to the Undersea Cavern. If you're still unsure about the location, just press START button to see the map and head to the "blinking" mark on your map.

Underseas Cavern

Save once you're inside. The path ahead wraps around a little bit, so take the eastern one to find a chest with a Water Earring. Continue to make your way north through the caverns and check out any nooks and crannies you see.

One of those crannies has a treasure chest that can't be opened because of its fish-shaped lock. You'll need a special key, obviously. Find it by going a little further ahead and defeating all the enemies you come across. When you defeat a group in front of an impassable gap, a treasure chest appears containing the Fish-Shaped Key. Go back to the locked chest and open it for the Hexagon Crystal. The game will then show you a barnacle back at the gap. Go there and insert the Crystal into the barnacle. The water in the gap will rise and take a bridge up with it. Now you can continue.

Checkpoint! Head through the passage to the east to get the Flara spell from a chest. If you'd like to save, run back down to the entrance to do so. At any rate, continue north to encounter the Hydrattler.

This should be another brief battle. The Hydrattler has four heads lettered A through D -- start attacking one, then just go in order to the head on the other end. Use Flara and Flara Sword, as they'll do the biggest damage (Mow Down will also work fairly well at hitting them all at once). The Hydrattler also uses spells causing poison and confusion, so either cast Cure Poison at a wide spread to take care of everyone or cast Regeneration to counteract the poison (assuming your White Magic user isn't under confusion, that is!).

Once a head is "defeated," it will freeze up. At that point, move on to the next head and keep attacking that one. When all the heads are paralyzed, the Hydrattler will fall.

Sheep Tribe Camp (Forest)

After the battle, get the remaining treasures and exit the Caverns. You'll wind up on the Island of the Dead and near another Sheep Tribe Camp. Go ahead and visit the camp to refresh the party. There aren't any side quests or anything of that sort in the camp, so just buy what you need, open all the hidden chests and, of course, activate the Warp Device. Head back out to the island and take the other path to the Fores

Forest of the Dead

And away we go on a quest to find that curative plant! Clear out the enemies in the big open area at the start and collect the items from the chests. From there, take the lower east path. Make your way east and then north (past the area with the green barrier wall) until you encounter a group of moths. Defeat the moths and a chest will appear that contains the Spirit of the Elder Tree. Continue north and cross the bridge there.

Fight the Grinning Ghost next to the big tree. Check the tree afterward and the Elder Tree will recover its oul. In return, the level of water in the poison swamp will drop. There's still that poison mist to get past, though. The Elder Tree will tell you to go after a mist machine to the north. Cross the bridge on the north end to begin the next leg of the journey.

(Open all the chests on the other side of the bridge -- one has a Shina spell for you, which will help you a ton with the ghost enemies here and in the future)

Continue north and you'll have to face another Grinning Ghost before reaching the mist machine. Turn the machine off and the poison mist will clear out, letting you continue.

Return to the Elder Tree, who tells you where to find the Gabo plant you're looking for -- back near where you got his spirit. Before going there, take the bridge to the east to get some extra items out of some chests, then return to the area with the green barrier. Go east past the barrier until you see another bridge with yet another Grinning Ghost guarding it. Defeat it, then continue north. The path will wind around to the south again, and will lead you to a Warp Device before you can exit the area. Warp back to the Forest Camp if you wish, save and heal, then head back to the Forest and exit to the south.

BOSS: King Ghost

Recommended Level(s): 16-18

This boss is barely a boss. If you collected the Shina spell from the chest earlier, you'll have a breeze of a time. Continually assault the King with Shina and Shina Sword, use Maro for powered-up attacks, use Kluke's Black Magic as you wish, and be a little patient. Don't bother targeting the crown on the King's head, as it basically just absorbs damage.
