The Resident Evil franchise got its start back in 1996 where premiered on the original Playstation. The game blew gamers and critics away with its mood, frights and original gameplay. Capcom went right to work on the sequels and Resident Evil 2 hits store shelves in 1998 while Resident Evil 3: Nemesis came out in 1999. It soon became a brand name which gave birth to new game, remakes, comic books and even some blockbuster movies.

While some franchises fade with time, the latest game, Resident Evil 4, once again made fans and the industry stand up and take notice. The latest installment has made countless "Best Games of All Time" lists since it debuted in 2005 on the Nintendo Gamecube. The next installment, Resident Evil 5 is now one of the most anticipated games yet to be released.
