Saving

The best way to tackle this game is by using at least two save slots. Use the first slot for saving in between chapters and at the Base Menu. This one is sort of like a backup safe. If you get into the next chapter and get stuck because you didn't do something at the base, simply load this file from the Start Chapter option at the opening screen.

Then, when you begin a chapter and start the mission by leaving the base you are giving some options when first appearing on the battlefield. Save here on a second save slot. This will create an "Adv" save. Now when you Battle Save it will safe in this second slot but you always have the option of restarting the chapter if you get stuck by loading the other slot.

Do this through out the game. Save at the Base Menu on one slot then save on the battlefield on the other. Be sure to safe at the start of the battle, or your Battle Saves will overwrite your fresh chapter saves.

One should not over use the Battle Save feature however. It's best used at the very start of your turn. Don't use it near the end of your turn or even in the middle. Doing this may get you stuck with a character death. Battle Saving at the start of the turn however gives you the option of replaying that turn completely differently if you get wiped out. Battle Save at the start of every turn but no more than that.

Another great reason of doing this is if you cherish all your characters. If they die, they aren't coming back. So if you want to keep as many alive as possible, then keep restarting until you end up with minimal deaths.
