Gears of War is a third-person shooter set in a world where humanity is on the brink of extinction. A subterranean species called the Locust has sprung from the depths of the planet and nearly wiped out the human race. Players take control of Marcus Fenix as he is freed from prison by his military buddies and rejoins his old squad on a mission to push the Locust back into the holes they crawled out of.
The main campaign in Gears can be played in single or co-op mode with a friend over Xbox Live. Gamers will venture through the ruins of human society as they battle their way through hordes of Locust.
This game is also available for the PC. A sequel, called Gears of War 2, is currently in development.
