Here's the lowdown: Five years ago, Carl Johnson (CJ) left his San Andreas neighborhood of Los Santos as it fell victim to the Ballas gang and drugs. Now, it's the early 1990s, CJ's mother has been killed, his family is in pieces and his former friends have become part of the element that destroyed the neighborhood. After he's framed for murdering a policeman by cops on the take, CJ decides the only way to take back his life and his family is to take back the streets of San Andreas.
The game takes place in the state of San Andreas, modeled after the real life state of California. San Andreas has three major cities: Los Santos (modeled after Los Angeles), San Fierro (San Francisco), and Las Venturas (Las Vegas).
