Tutorial

Begin by simply following Gale. To reach the catwalk above you, aim the crosshairs, using the Right Thumb-Stick at the ledge. When the crosshairs turn green, press X to use your grapple and then continue to follow Gale. Once the floor is destroyed, simply walk into the hole and the grapple will automatically assist your descent. When you reach the bottom a Dongo will roll out and attack you. You can simply let your teammates kill or your can join in the fun. Which ever the case, be sure to pick up that glowing stuff that falls from it's body. That's Thermal Energy. Due to the Extreme Conditions you need this stuff to survive. Pick it up any chance you get.

Follow the team into the next room where you'll be attacked by Trilids. Instead of shooting the creatures shoot the pods on the walls. These will just keep producing more Trilids so destroy these first. Continue onwards. When you find the Data Post, press B repeatedly. These Data Posts while supply you with a large boost of T-Energy and point you in the proper direction.

A large Green Eye will now attack you. You can't kill the thing so you simply need to run. Follow the others and run for your lives. You should eventually find another Data Post to activate and your first Vehicle Suit. Hop in the V.S. and start firing at the Green Eye until a cut-scene ensues.

Mission 01

A World Of Ice

Start off by hopping into the V.S. suit nearby. This will make easy work of the Akrids in this area. If you suddenly become low on T-Energy, you can shoot gas tanks and cars until they explode and drop some for you. Continue on your way and a Chryatis will pop out of the ground and attack you. Shoot the orange part on its legs to disable the creature then move around to its rear and shoot it's orange abdomen. Make your way to the building nearby. You'll have to get out of the V.S. suit in order to venture inside. Remember to pick up the shotgun though from the corpse before entering.

Inside, be sure to activate the Data Post and pick up the ammo and grenades. Fend off the Akrids and make your way to the other side. Once outside you'll find a dig spot to your left. It's a Rocket Launcher if you want it. If you do, trade the shotgun for it. Go into the Material Warehouse and another Chryatis will jump out at you. Again, shoot its legs first, then worry about putting it out of its misery for good. The warehouse is littered with Akrids. You'll find Rocket Launcher ammo in a closet here if you want it. Now, shoot the fuel barrels along the far wall to blow a new exit open and make your way outside.

As you run outside you will encounter multiple Dongos as once. You can stay and fight with them but it can get a bit hairy facing more than one at a time on foot. Instead, make for the ledge and use your grapple to reach higher ground. The Dongos can't follow you up there. Activate the Data Post and follow it's lead. Watch out off falling rocks as you deal with the Dongos on the small path. Further up you'll find more Rocket ammo by the entrance of a cave, if you even need it. Head into the cave.

Make your way deeper into the Akrid Hive. You'll find a Data Post and Energy Gun to the right. The Energy Gun would be a wise weapon to pick up as a secondary. Cross the walkway and be cautious of the Trilids especially if a swam of them gathers and swoops at you. On the other side, walk off the ledge to activate the grapple and lower yourself to the level below you. Make your way through all the Akrid Eggs to find a Data Post on the other side. Follow its direction and go inside the lair.

Boss: Super Dongo

At the start of the battle, run to the right and get into a V.S. You'll find a spare gatling gun on the ground nearby. You can equip this to your empty weapon slot by standing over the gun and pressing B. Now, same rules apply to this big guy as with the smaller ones. You need to hit its weak spot, which is the bright orange spot on its rear. This V.S. has a dash feature, which will aid you in rotating around to its backside in order to unload on it. There no need to waste ammo on unless you are behind with a clear shot.

The creature's most dangerous attack is when it curls up into a ball and either rolls at you or climbs the walls and rolls around them. If it charges you as a ball, Dash out of its way at the last possible moment to avoid this attack. When it's rolling around the room, it will be causing rocks to fall from above. These are hard to avoid and deal a fair amount of damage. Just keep moving. The Dongo will finally return to the ground and momentarily stun itself by hitting the wall. Use this opportunity to really unload onto its weak spot.

Mission 02

Stronghold Assault

Start off by activating the Data Post. As you make your way into the street you'll be faced with multiple Dongos. The shotgun will work wonders on them. It can stop their roll attack and stun them. This will leave their weak rear end open for the kill. As you proceed a couple more Dongos will roll off the roof from the right. Deal with them like the others. Continue onwards to face two Chryatis's at once. Take out their legs with your machine gun and then hit their abdomens with the shotgun.

Make your way through the tunnel as quickly as possible. You'll see an organic door, shot the orange pods and you can collect the T-Energy from within. Activate the Data Post and follow it lead. When you step out of the cave look to your left and shoot red square next to the door. They will open to reveal a V.S. with dual gatling guns. Hop in and take it down the street and around the corner. There you will find a small group of Space Pirates fighting a Chryatis. Take out the Pirates first then deal with the creature. Find your way through the streets to a worn out building. Hop out of the V.S. and grapple your way through the building taking out Space Pirates on your way.

You will emerge from the building to find what looks like a long railroad. Hop in the nearby V.S. This is the GTF-13M. It's pretty slow with its guns out but it can transform into a bike and get you from one place to another in a jiffy. Use it's bike-form to travel, then when you come across some enemies transform and lay down the law with some firepower. Down the tracks a bit you'll find a rifle. You should probably pick it up; it'll come in handy later on. Use the bike-form of your V.S. to hop the gap in front of you to reach the other side.

A larger ‘’V.S.’’ will now attack you. Get on top of the train car to pick up the Gum Grenades. These are great to take out enemy V.S. units as the stick to whatever you through them at. Press on through the Space Pirates to enter a tunnel. The rifle is really useful in here. Zoom in with it and start popping guys off with headshots. When you can, grapple to the catwalk above. There's nothing like having the height advantage. There's a Data Post about halfway through the tunnel. You'll exit the tunnel to find the Space Pirate's camp.

Again, this is a great place to use the rifle. You should be able to snipe the pilot right out of the V.S.'s cockpit. Snipe who you can then move up to the building tops on the left. You will find a Data Post on a rooftop. Enemies will be dropping energy guns. While not the fast shooters, if you charge them you can take out the guys on the rocket turrets in one shot. Make your way up the steps and hop into a V.S. or rocket turret to clear up the rest of the Space Pirates. When you are done make your way through the giant door.

Boss: GB-22 or Jumper

You enter this area and are attacked by two enemy Vehicle Suits. Run to the right and hop into a V.S. of your own. There are some extra V.S. guns lying around so take your pick. Once you have armed yourself with a V.S. and dueling weapons it's time to go to work. Pick an enemy V.S. and circle it. The shotgun will make quick work of an enemy at close range. Circle the enemy suit unloading on it the entire time. It should drop pretty quickly. Once you've downed on of the enemies, the GB-22 will show up. Concentrate on the lesser mechs first before taking on the big guy. When you take out a V.S. be sure to pick up its ammo and any T-Energy it drops.

Once the smaller mechs are down, turn your attention to the larger V.S. jumping around the area. When it lands, unload on it. When it jumps in the air hold off. If you target its shoulder mounted rocket launcher while your shooting it, you should be able to take out any rocket that is trying to be fired from it. Just keep moving; keep firing and it should go down without that much difficulty. If you happen to loose your V.S., there's another in the area that is free to use. Eject from yours, find the second one, equip it with dual weapons and finish the fight.

Mission 03

Crossing The Plains

You start this mission among a few buildings and a couple mechs to choose from. Hop in a V.S. and attempt to head north across the plain to be attacked by a Giant Worm Akrid. You're V.S. will be destroyed and you will have a two options from here. You can either avoid the Giant Worm by hugging the right or left wall while crossing the plain or you can fight the massive creature. The only thing fighting the creature will do is give you an achievement for killing it. But if you die anytime after it in the level the achievement is voided. So the choice is yours. It is a 50-point achievement though.

Optional Boss: Giant Worm

You fighting him? That's what I thought. The creature has twelve weak spots on its body and none of them are that easy to hit. The worm is almost always moving and on top of all the snow that's moving around they'll be hard to hit and even find. Like most of the enemies, you need to be circling the creature. Not just to find its weak spots but also to avoid its lunging attack. The tail will shoot blobs of "stuff" at you. It's almost best to charge forward to avoid these falling goops of "stuff". Try to stay mid range to the creature because getting farther away from will cause it to spit ice rocks at you.

It's almost best to wait for it to stick itself straight up in the air and fire its "stuff" at you. When it's doing that you should be able to get some good shots off and do the most damage. The worm is extremely tough. If it becomes too frustrating, remember you can always simply pass it by. When you do beat the creature, you'll be rewarded the Worm Hunter Achievement at the end of the level only. Again, this is a tough one.

Boss: Female V.S.

However you make it across the plains, you'll find a building on the other side. Now head inside. There you'll face a woman in a V.S. that is much tougher than the last one. Hop inside the empty V.S. nearby. It's best to try and spend as much time jumping and in the air as possible. The laser and rockets do a far amount of damage. Let loose with your gatling gun and don't let up. Don't fire your rockets until she lands on the ground and you have a sure shot. You will probably loose you mech in this battle no matter what you do, you just need to make sure she's hurting before you do. If/when you loose your mech, try to find the V.S. rocket launcher attachment, which should finish the job. If not, use grenades and watch out for her laser.

Mission 04

Mountain Route 1

Head up the canyon at the start of the level. You'll find a few Akrids to kill on your way. Every now and then a Giant Moth will drop bombs on you from above. Just keep moving. You'll find a Data Post and a rocket launcher buried in the snow across from it. Lower yourself into the hole to find a ton of Akrids. If you want to simply run through them, that's fine. If you want to fight them be sure to take out the generators first. In the next area you'll face a bunch of Space Pirates and two V.S. units. With the rocket launcher you should be able to pick off one of the mechs before fully entering the room. Try to take out a few Space Pirates before completely engaging the room too.

After a pretty tough skirmish, find the Data Post and follow its lead. When you reach the cliffs shoot all the Space Pirates you can see. Now you'll need to drop onto the moving platform below and ride it. Quickly grapple to the ledge before the platform reaches the flames. You should find yourself where the Space Pirates were. Make your way up the mountain path and through the opening. There you'll find a Data Post to the right. Activate it and hop into the V.S. Use it's double jump feature to climb up the shaft. Going from platform to platform. When you get outside you'll find a Data Post and a buried V.S. You should probably hop into that on as yours has more than likely taken some damage. Be sure to have a gatling gun and rocket launcher equipped before jumping up to the higher rocks.

Boss: Giant Akrid Hornet

The flying Akrid has a bunch of attacks. They are all pretty deadly and all difficult to avoid. As always, keep moving. Jumping can help with avoiding some of the attacks. Use the pillar in the center of the area for cover as much as possible. It can be a real lifesaver. Like a lot of Akrid, this ones weak spot is on it abdomen. When the creature is on the move use your gatling gun to ever so slowly dwindle its life. It'll pause for a moment right after an attack. Fire your rockets at it then and make them count. The hornet is an extremely tough boss. If you loose your mech, there will be two other in the area. Good luck.

Mission 05

Mountain Rout 2

You most now make you way up the side of this mountain. Grapple from platform to platform, picking up any items and T-Energy along the way. You will however have some company on your climb. A Giant Moth will be flying overhead. Its wings will cause gusts of winds that will knock you off your feet and cause rocks to tumble down the mountain on top of you. Most of the platforms have little nooks for you to take shelter in. Do so to save yourself from being crushed. Like the Giant Worm from the previous level, the Giant Moth is an optional kill. All it does it give you some Achievement Points. If you want to take the time to down the flying beast, it's best to do so with the mounted Energy Gun. Pick it up and carry it up the mountain with you. On the highest ledge you should be able to shoot the Moth. Its Weak Spots are on its side, so take aim, charge your shots and blow the creature out of the sky.

Whether you decide to face the Giant Moth or not, make your way inside the cave you find at the top of the mountain. Inside you'll find a couple new Akrids to battle. There are some mini-hornet Akrids flying around. Be careful and be sure to shoot them down. Also, there are these worm like tentacles that grow from the ground and hurl explosives at you. Take these out as quickly as possible.

Grab the V.S. and make your way deeper into the cave. Watch out for more falling rocks. You'll find a small tunnel, jump out of your V.S. and find the Data Post inside. Follow its direction and make your way down some holes to find a giant ice pillar in the center of an area. Pillage the two side rooms for T-Energy and a new V.S. When you are all suited up, make your way through the living door.

Boss: Chryatis Queen

Unlike its smaller family members, this giant Chryatis' weak spot is located on its head. You can go about getting to this a couple ways. Like the smaller Chryatis, you can blow the legs off this one as well. This is easiest with dueling gatling guns. Take out the legs and you will be able to hit the weak spot on its head. However the legs will grow back but simply repeat this process and you should do the creature in with about three takedowns.

You could also shoot the spikes down from the ceiling. These will generally knock the creature down and give you some time to unload on its head. Either way works fine. Use your mechs side-dash to avoid being hit. If your V.S. happens to be destroyed in the battle, there are two more located in the area. Hop in another one and finish the beast off.

Mission 06

Green Eye Returns

Get ready for a firefight. The streets are littered with NEVEC Soldiers, enemy mechs and even some gun turrets. Activate the Data Post to your right and carefully make your way up the street. Be sure to take out soldiers wielding Rocket Launchers first. It's probably best to pick up one of these bad boys for your own use. You'll come to a platform with a Data Post and enemy V.S. on top of it. Take it out with either the Rocket Launcher or a grenade. Grapple up there, activate the Data Post and pick up the Plasma Rifle nearby. Use this and your height to take out as many soldiers from here as you can. Try to take out distant gun turrets too. Hop off the platform and proceed. You'll be attacked by another enemy V.S. soon enough. Back up, take cover and then take it out. Take a right at the end of the road and get ready to take on the boss.

Boss: Green Eye

Welcome to probably the most difficult boss in the game, Green Eye, the same creature that killed your father in the beginning. Luckily, you are given your father's ‘‘V.S.’’, which may be the best mech suit in the game. You can't hop out of the mech during the battle so you got to do the best you can to make it last.

Green Eye begins with four weak spots on both sides of its body. Duel gatling guns would probably be your best bet here. The creature has an assortment of physical attacks that should be avoided but really its ice missiles are the most deadly attack it has. These will stun you and then continually hit you there after. They pack a hell of a punch and can take you out really quickly. Pick a direction and keep moving in that direction.

This V.S. can also hover which can be used to avoid Green Eye's attacks as well. Pop the eight weak spots and suddenly four more will grow from its forehead. Now its attacks will increase in speed. Keep moving and keep unloading on it. The new weak spots should pop a bit easier than the last ones.

Once you take out these spots, the final single weak spot will sprout from its forehead. Only thing is, Green Eye goes completely nuts. His attacks are completely unpredictable and incredibly fast. On top of that, its weak spot is tough to dwindle with the gatlings guns. You will probably want to pick up a Rocket Launcher and a Grenade Launcher. Just don't fire carelessly at the creature. Make your shots count.

Mission 07

Caravan Ambush

Activate the Data Post right at the start then head to the right. Grapple to the platform and take out the soldiers by the truck. Past the truck is a Plasma Rifle, hop down and grab it. Head back to the previous Data Post and begin to take out the enemy mechs with the Plasma Rifle. After clearing out the remaining enemies head south of the first Data Post. You'll find another soon enough. To the left of that will be a shed and a V.S. for you to use. Hop in and take out more enemy mechs. Make for the doorway at the end where you'll face a couple of bigger V.S. units. Take them out then proceed through the doors.

You are now in the Great Plains where you fought or avoided the Giant Worm. However, now it looks like a junkyard of mechs. Hop in a new V.S. and head across the plains. You'll have to face a few of the worm-tentacle things and a few Chryatis’’. Make for the entrance to the dam; there will be some soldiers in you path. Kill them or avoid them, it's up to you. Jump the fence and hop out of the V.S. when you land. Run up the stairs, activate the Data Post and proceed.

Here you will face hovering security bots. Their lasers won't hurt you but the machines will be alerted to your presence if you cross the beams and they will hunt you down and attack you. To the south you'll find some balconies that can be grappled to. Use these to avoid most of the security bots. Take out any turrets too with the Plasma Rifle. At the end you'll find two doors. Shoot and destroy the door up above then grapple up there. Activate the Data Post and grab all the T-Energy you can find. Get in the V.S. by the elevator.

Boss: GAB-25M or Quad V.S.

The gatling gun and rocket launcher combo will be a pretty good set up for this battle. This mech has a devastating physical attack where it'll transform and ram you. Keep moving and be sure to be on this look out for this attack. For the most part, try to use the creates in the center as cover while you continuously unload your gatling on it. The mech will jump up on the boxes; this is when you should hit it with a rocket. Whenever it lands from a jump it pauses so hit it with rockets then. There's more ammo on the platforms above. If you run out of rockets; there's a shotgun attachment up there if you want it. Keep moving; keep firing and the metal bastard will go down.

Mission 08

Volcano Dome Facility

Start by simply heading down the path. You're going to face a few new Scorpion Akrids. They are best handled by tossing a grenade, which will flip them onto their backs then hitting the weak spot on the tail. After dealing some Scorpions the path will spilt and you will end up in a bigger area. Take out the Scorpions below and then jump into the new V.S. unit. Make your way over the lava via the bridge. Hop into a new mech if you desire. There are a ton of Akrids standing between you and the over side of this bridge. Blast your way through them to find two ways to go. Take the eastern trail.

You'll now be facing a bunch of enemy V.S. units. Pick up an Energy Gun and use fully-charged shots to disable the enemy mechs. With a V.S., make your way down the area battling or avoid the enemy units on your way. Grab a fresh V.S before the boss fight, there should be plenty of them around.

Boss: Driller Mech

Before you face off against your main opponent, take out the tree smaller mechs first. Once they are out of the picture you can drop down to engage the big one. There are two more V.S. units on a raised platform if you need them. This big V.S. is basically a larger version of the new V.S. you found in this level. It has its tank mode but then it can transform into a drilling machine and ram you. This does heaps of damage so be sure to avoid it by hovering. It'll also shot a barrage of projectiles at you. As always, keep moving but you can try and use the pillars along the side for cover as well.

You can't hurt this bad boy when it’s in the driller mode. Its only weak spot is the bottom section of the machine under the four legs. EM Lasers do the jog quite nicely but there is a grenade launcher attachment that can help finish the job.

Mission 09

Thermal Energy Deposit

Start off by killing NEVEC Soldiers in front of you. The tower nearby will be home to a bunch of enemies. Take cover and take them out. Grab their ammo and activate the Data Post. Be sure to pick up either a Plasma Rifle or Energy Gun. Make your way along the road pegging off as many enemy soldiers as you can from the high ground. Take out the three V.S. units ahead of you and drop down the hole in the path to the ground below. Head inside the structure on the bridge. Shoot the flying Akrids before they hit you and explode.

Next you'll reach an area with some more soldiers in it. Make for the trench in the middle of the ground. You will find one of the driller V.S. units. You will need to use the drill to make your way through the tunnels. There are multiple avenues so just pick one and press onwards. You will eventually emerge in a larger area where a ‘’Super Dongo’’ will ambush you. There's another V.S. here if you need it. Kill the massive beast, hit the Data Post and get ready for the boss.

Boss: Spider Akrid

This beast of a creature has a weak spot on each of its legs and the main weak spot on top of its head. Take out two of its legs and it'll drop to the ground and you will be able to go to work unloading rounds into its head. It’s not that difficult. There are a couple more V.S. units if you need them. Some smaller Akrids may attack you during the battle as well. You should be able to take them out for some easy T-Energy.

Mission 10

Showdown Below

Start off by shooting the fuel containers and collecting the T-Energy from them. Hop in the V.S. and kill all the Akrids in the area. Watch out for the hovering security drones too. Shoot them down. Once you've cleared the area, drop down from the ledge and activate the Data Post and refill on gatling ammo. Make your way to the southern exit. Eventually, you will reach a dead end but there will be a tunnel above you. Hop into the other V.S. and use it to reach the upper floor. Drop down the hole and follow the path.

Eventually you will emerge in an underground city that is left in ruins with a giant Chryatis hanging around. Its weak spots will show up in time, but really you don't need to fight it. Avoid the creature and search for a hole in the ground among the rubble. There you will find a Data Post and another V.S. to grab. Drop below into another hole and into the Akrid Hive.

Boss: Akrid Queen

Being the last Akrid boss that you fight, it's surprisingly not that difficult. Its attacks don't do all that much damage and are relatively easy to avoid. Start by shooting the ends of its tentacles that sort of resemble hands. Each tentacle has two weak spots on them. Once you've hit both weak spots enough, the tentacle will retract into its body leaving a hole in the ground. Jump out of you V.S. and drop into the hole. There you will see another weak spot of the creatures. If you have a rocket launcher this would be a great time to use it. Whatever the weapon you have is, simply unload on this spot until the tentacle re-grows and shoves back out of the tunnel. When you destroy this weak spot the tentacle will not grow back, so simply climb back out of the tunnel and repeat the process on the other one.

Once both arms are destroyed you should begin unloading on the lower back weak spots on both sides of the beast. They will spit projectiles out at you but simply gun them down and continue firing on the weak spot. When you have destroyed both of these spots you can now focus on the mouth. When the monster's mouth opens you will see the weak spot inside. This is another great time to hit it with a rocket. After a few hits to the back of the throat, the creature will be defeated and it will reveal a tunnel for you to explore.

Into the Lair

You'll eventually come across more NEVEC Soldiers and Akrids. Hop into one of the many V.S. units around and clean some house. Press on to find discover a parking lot filled with mechs. Take your pick and stock up on T-Energy for showdown ahead.

Boss: Bandero

Bandero's super V.S. has the standard gatling gun and missiles which you can easily avoid by using the pillars in this area for covers or simply dashing to the side. What you really need to pay attention to is his physical attack. Electricity will extend from his suit and if you get caught in it you can expect to loose a ton of health. There's no need to worry about weak spots on him however. Simply unload on him with whatever you got. Rockets would be good. If your V.S. is destroyed you have two new ones waiting for you here, so don't stress it. Just keep firing and he will go down.

Mission 11

Final Battle

You start the level in a brand new super V.S. of your own. It can fly around freely. Take a moment to get used to the controls. When you are ready you need to fly up the vertical tunnel. Don't worry about the enemies along the way. Just keep flying up as fast as you can. You'll eventually reach the open air above where you'll face the final boss.

Boss: Commander Isenberg

Your new V.S. has three attacks. Hitting X will shoot straight in front of you but this attack is extremely weak and is not worth any effort. Your two Trigger Buttons however will perform two different Laser Sword attacks. These will be what you want to concentrate on hitting Isenberg with. Like all the bosses, Isenberg has patterns, pay attention to him and learn his patterns, they aren't that difficult. You'll need to fly along and keep up with him. Generally, after an attack, he will pause for a moment this would be the best time to swoop in for an attack. Be sure to briefly charge your attack beforehand. Be carefully however, charging does use up T-Energy but is almost necessary to inflict damage. It's a necessary evil; just keep an eye on your meter. Later on in the battle, Isenberg will bring in giant cannon to assist him. Concentrate of avoiding their fire and watch carefully for the perfect moment to attack. Moving inwards is good for dodging their fire. Again, learning his patterns is the fastest way to victory. When you defeat Isenberg you have successfully beaten Lost Planet. Good Job.
