Combat
Initiative
At the start of a fight, you'll see a message that says "roll for initiative." Each character is given a random number from 1 to 20. The one with the highest number attacs first. If a character gets a "natural 20" they get to start off with a special attack. This system is an homage to table top gaming.
Overkills
If you kill an enemy with an attack that does far more damage than necessary, you'll achieve an overkill. Once you have collected enough overkills, you'll gain combat bonuses. Try to take out almost dead enemies with special attacks to achieve overkills.
Special Attacks
Each character has a unique special attack. To use this special attack, you must wait until the normal attack meter is full, then the special attack meter will start to fill. When it is full, click on it, then on your enemy. You'll see a symbol or symbols above your enemy. Click on one of these symbols. This begins a short mini-game, doing it perfectly will result in full damage, one error will result in partial damage, and several errors result in no damage.
If more than one character has his special attack charged, a new symbol will appear over your enemy when you select a special attack. Selecting this symbol will trigger a two or three person "Team-Up" attack. You don't have to do a mini-game for this attack. There are no special effects (like stun) for a Team-Up Attack, but it does a large amount of damage.
