Layton's Challenges
You can gain access to various groups of bonus puzzles by collecting various items through out the game. There are five "Houses" or "Sections" for you to unlock.
The Inventor's House
Collect all the Gizmos in the story portion of the game. When you have them all and have completed your robotic dog, you will unlock The Inventor's House where you will find 3 bonus puzzles.
The Decorator's House
Gather all the items for the Layton and Luke's rooms and divy them up in a particular way. You can rearrange all the furniture on the Inn screen of your Trunk. Doing this though, will unlock 3 bonus puzzles.

The Art Lover's House
Collect all of the Painting Scraps and piece them together to reveal the painting in its entirety. Once the painting to completed you will unlock The Art Lover's House and access to 3 more bonus puzzles.
The Golden Apple's House
Complete the game to learn the secret of the Golden Apple and you will unlock The Golden Apple's House which contains 3 bonus puzzles.
The Puzzle Master's House
Solve all the 120 puzzles within the game itself and the addition 12 puzzles of Layton's Challenges to unlock this final house with 3 more puzzles.
