Planet Kerwan
Your first enemy is a group of cragmite commando robots. Use the combuster to destroy them, then use your wrench on the pilots that come out of the destroyed robots.
Next up you'll see a green jump pad. It will launch you to the next section. Destroy the enemies you find here and use the next pad.
In this area you'll see some rails, and this is your introduction to rail grinding. Ratchet slides along these rails. You'll have to switch to adjacent rails to avoid dangers as you go.
At the end you'll have to deal with more commando robots. Inside of the tunnel you'll face a hovership. Another jump pad will take you to the next area.
The bridge ahead of you will fall away as you cross it. As long as you keep moving forward, you'll be alright. When you encounter enemies, shoot at them as you're running forward, but don't stop to fight them.
The next room has several enemies, but it also has lots of bolt crates. Be sure to smash all of them before moving on.
To continue on, you'll have to do another section of rail grinding. This time, you have to share the rails with trains.
At the end, you'll have to fight several enemies, then use two jump pads. You'll then encounter a second fall away bridge. At this point, the story takes over and you'll end up falling no matter what you do. Try to dodge (using the sixaxis controller) the flying cars on the way down. Even if you don't dodge any cars, you'll still live to the end of the level.
Planet Cobalia
As you move through this jungle planet you'll have to take out numerous hostile animals. They aren't very powerful; so long as you don't try to take on a large group of them they are quite easy. The combuster should be able to take them out easily, but if you're low on ammo you can use the wrench.
Remember that like previous Ratchet and Clank games, landing in the water will kill you.
Move forward, killing animals and smashing any crates you see. When you get a long gap, use Ratchet's heli-pack to get across it. You may want to practice using the heli-pad in a safe area before you fly across the gap.
Outside of the next building, you'll see a Basilisk Leviathan, but you wont' have to fight him just yet.
Cross the bridge and you'll see a building. Kill all the creatures around the entrance. There is a Raritarium crate just outside the entrance. If you're facing the building, the crate is to your left.
Go through the building and wall jump up the wall. Look around and you'll see an island in the swamp below you. Use your glider to get there.
Jump across the platforms to another building. Go inside and jump your way up the shaft. Here you'll find a room full of crates. The crate with a question mark is a jackpot powerup. When it is active you earn five times the normal amount of bolts. Smash it and then quickly smash as many crates as you can before the effect wears off.
Next up is your first boss battle, the Basilisk Leviathan. Make sure you have plenty of combuster ammo. It has a ranged laser attack, a ball shooting ranged attack and a charge attack. All of the attacks can be dodged. He spends most of his time flying around, so keep shooting him with the combuster at all times.
When he dies you'll get a Leviathan Soul. Hold on to this, it becomes useful later in the game.
You'll then come to the spaceport. Here is your first weapons vendor.
Also in the spaceport is a charter called the Smuggler. He agrees to transport you off the planet, but you first have to do a mission for him. He wants you to turn on the power to the nearby Gelenator plant.
He also gives you a device called the Gelenator. It has to be filled with gel (which you can find at the plant) then in can create cubes that act like trampolines. It can also be used to trap enemies in a cube of gel.
| Not too far from the Smuggler is a path through the cliffs to a marsh with three more Leviathans. This is a good place to gain some experience and some more Leviathan Souls. |
Once inside the plant, fill the Gelenator and use it to get over the walls. The arrows will tell you exactly where to jump to.
You'll come to a pool of gel. Place cubes in the pool to make a path you can jump across.
On the other side are some enemies. They won't attack you, but they will eat any cube you place on the ground. Encase them in gel to get them out of the way.
There are two Raritarium crates in a secret area up the wall to your left. You'll need a three cube jump to make it.
Go through the hall to the gravity ramp. Use your wrench on the bolt to open the next area. Cross another gel river, but this one has a slight current that makes it a little harder. Past this are more gel eating enemies. Use your wrench on the bolt and go up the gravity ramp. At the top is one last bolt that turns on the plant.
When you're ready to go, head over to the gel dispenser and empty your Gelanator. Head back to the spaceport and buy whatever you wish, then speak to the Smuggler to end this level.
