Rebirth Knife Fights
One of the big differences between the Classic mode and Rebirth mode is the first-person knife fights you'll encounter through out the game. Sometimes when you enter a room you will be immediately forced into a first-person view and must fend off hordes of enemies with only a knife. These can be frustrating at first and some enemies may just seem down right cheap, but know that timing is everything here. Heres a quick rundown of each enemy.
Zombies: The most common foe in the knife battles and luckily the easiest. Tap the touch-screen as these corpses approach to stab over and over again. When you see their arms go up it means they are about to bit you. When you see this; swipe at the screen horizontally or vertically to stun the creatures and stop the attack before it happens. You can basically avoid getting hit at all by just waiting for their arms to move up and simply swiping at them every time. For a one hit kill however, you will need to wait a second more after they throw their arms back and swing when they are coming forward. This is more difficult to time properly but will kill the creature in one hit if down correctly. Multiple zombies should be handled with horizontal swipes as to hit them all at once. Don't worry about critical hits when dealing with multiple undead. Just swipe at the entire horde until they go down.
Cerberus (zombie dogs): These little fiends are on the tougher end of the scale. You cannot wildly swipe at these guys as you can with a horde of zombies. Timing is everything. The dogs will sit, howl (usually twice) and then lunge at you. As soon as you hear them howl your eyes should be trained on them. The second you see the dog start to move after the howl you need to swipe across the screen horizontally. This will cut the pouch right out of the air and leave your unharmed.
Crows: These guys are pretty easy. They are best dealt with by tapping the screen and simply stabbing them. Swiping is good though if you are ever swamped by multiple crows though.
Hunters: While it is tempting to swing wildly at this creatures and kill them with multiple hits, one single critical hit is actually a lot easier. Hunters will scare you when they leap at you but this is not an attack. When the land they will attack with the only attack they have, a claw swipe. Watch them carefully as they will raise an arm back to swipe at you. As soon as you see that arm go back you should take a vertical or horizontal swipe at them. This will land you a critical hit and kill the little beasts in one hit.
Giant Snake: This guy can be intimidating but once you have the timing down, you can make it through a fight with him untouched. You can only damage him when his mouth is open. Which he opens right before an attack. Then he'll pull his head back and then lunge at you to attack. You need to for him to pull his head all the back and then swipe the instant he begins to lunge at you. This will totally deflect his attack leaving you unharmed.
