What to do if you are having trouble passing through a song
Getting "sync" energy bonuses in unison (where each member simultaneously succeeds at their energy chain of notes) gives a disproportionately large boost to each members' energy meter, in some cases allowing the entire band to activate their energy gauges and prevent getting booed off the stage.
When one player activates their energy meter, it can give small boosts to the other players in the song. Conversely, if other players are doing poorly while one player is out and their instrument meter is in the red mode, a poor performance will result in the red time meter moving more quickly.
If you have one band member who consistently fails a song at a certain part, don't rescue them until the end of the passage in which they are crashing (a long guitar or drum solo, for example)." As long as the rest of the band is able to successfully play through that section, the red meter denoting the time the band has left to save the failed member will move slowly, allowing you to wait for the last possible moment to revive the lost member. This is also a case in which other band members will want to conserve their energy power, so that they will be able to make the rescue.
Maxing out your score
A key component to maxing a score given however many players you have is synchronizing the use of the energy meter. when one player has their activated, it will add one to the coefficient multiplying the group score. Each additional person adds to the multiplication of the score, allowing 2x, 4x, 6x and so on. This is particularly effective when the bass player is in the midst of their bass groove, further multiplying scores.
