Rock Band 2 takes the head-pounding gameplay of the first Rock Band game and introduces new features like Battle of the Bands and Tour Challenges. A new "No Fail" mode lets new players rock out, without fear of prematurely ending the band's song.
Rock Band 2 is a music simulation game where up to four players can form a rock band and together play some of their favorite songs. Each player can choose one of four instruments: guitar, bass, drums, or vocals. Each instrument is played with a special controller. A guitar shaped controller plays either the guitar or bass. The drums are played with a special drum kit that includes drum pad, cymbals, and a bass pedal. Vocals are sung into a microphone and the game can tell how well the player sings.
Songs appear on the screen, with stylized notes that show players exactly how to play the song. The notes for each player are different, specific to their instrument. By successfully performing songs, players unlock more songs and virtual venues.
