Legend says that long ago Algol was known as the "Hero King." He acquired the mighty Soul Edge sword and was able to avoid its evil control as he used it for good. Eventually, his son stole the Soul Edge and was quickly taken by its evil. Algol was forced to fight and ultimately kill his son. After the battle, Algol set out to create another sword that could counter the power of the Soul Edge. He eventually created the Soul Calibur that took his life in the making. Algol's soul was then trapped inside the Soul Calibur.
Being corrupted by the years trapped inside the equally evil sword, Algol was released when the two fateful swords met in battle. Taking up the throne at the top of the Tower of Remembrance, Algol now simply waits for warriors to challenge his power.
Algol is the final boss character in the story mode in Soul Calibur IV. He wields both the Soul Calibur and the Soul Edge blades which are within himself. He can summon either blade at will along with 10 other weapons like a rifle and numerous other blades.
You can unlock Algol be defeating him in the story mode.
Tactics
Deadly at any range, Algol can be played a variety of ways. He has a number of combos and launching moves, is extremely quick and deals a fair amount of damage. While he can use any number of these moves at mid to close range, Algol also has the Eltanin Nath projectile attack. He actually may be the best ranged attacker in the game. You can fire up to four of these orbs at one time. Firing a fifth though will make the first disappear. Practice and play with varying speeds of this projectile. In combination with Algol's teleport ability, oppents will be kept guessing. Firing the Eltanin Nath and then teleporting close to the opponent and hitting them into the orb is a great way to begin a combo.
Algol can be a lot to handle fighting against him when you don't know all his tricks. His orbs can be bounced back at him but then again, he can bounce them back at greater speed. If you can manage to block a combo from him, he will be vulnerable for a few moments. Algol has a lot up his sleeve but can be conquered once you understand his moves.
