About
Maxi grew up on a pirate ship with his father at the helm. He began training with nunchakus at a very young age as a method of self-defense. Do to his father's ties, they did not sail far from their home island so Maxi learned those waters very well. One trip, Maxi noticed a passenger who carries a set of nunchakus. He challenged the old man and was quickly defeated. In awe of the man's skills, Maxi asked if he would train him. The man agreed and Maxi listened and learned much from this passenger. When they parted ways, Maxi kept at his training and was constantly improving.
When Maxi's father died, he took up command of the ship. The crew and Maxi's "sworn brother", Kyam, set sail for distant water. There was more to this world then the waters surrounding his home island. They eventually docked in India. Maxi left the shift to investigate this new land. When he returned he found his ship under attack by Astaroth and the evil forces he commanded. He also found a stranger named, Kilik, who was helping fend of the attacks. As the Astaroth was nearly defeated, he took the holy mirror, Dvapara-Yuga, from Kilik. Without the holy item suppressing the evil inside Kilik, he attacked Maxi.
Maxi was able to get Dvapara-Yuga back to Kilik which brought him back to his senses. The two surveyed the ship to find most of the crew dead. Maxi found his "sworn Brother" Kyam who was fatally wounded. Before dying to told Maxi that he believed in Kilik's quest to destroy the Soul Edge. After some thought, Maxi decided to join Kilik in his quest, however Maxi was after vengeance on Astaroth for killing Kyam and his crew.
Kilik and Maxi set off on their journey together. They were eventually joined by Xianghua and the three of them set off to Ostrheinsburg. There, Maxi battled Astaroth and defeated him. However, this enraged the god Ares and he had the ground swallow Maxi. He later awoke to find that a small village in the middle of the woods had found him and nursed him back to health as best they could. His wounds had been severe and he was unable to travel. He took up home in this village and lived in peace.
As time passed, rumors of Astaroth's began to circle. This infuriated Maxi. He forced the village's medicine man to cure him. The old man perform a strange ritual with a strange metal shard. Maxi was then able to set out to finish his mission of revenge. He found himself back at the spot his crew died some time later. There, Kilik and Xianghua found and approached him in friendship. As they were about to reunite, Maxi's insides began to react to Kilik's holy mirror. Maxi then realized, that the strange metal shard used to heal him was a fragment of the Soul Edge.
Not wanting to endanger his friends, he set out alone. There he was approached by Tira who informed him that Astaroth was growing stronger while Maxi was growing weaker. She told him the only way to defeat Astaroth was to acquire the Soul Edge itself. Maxi knew it was a trap but could not resist the chance to fulfill his destiny.
Tactics
Maxi's combat style allows him to string a long series of attacks together. Player's will want to stay close to their opponents as Maxi lacks much in the way of long ranged combat. You'll want to stay close and keep the pressure on by stringing as many attacks together as possible.
Maxi is a good choice for players new to the game who are still button mashing. They can get in close, and unleash a flurry of fast but uncoordinated attacks. When button mashing, avoid LB and RT on the Xbox or L1 and R2 on the PS3. These buttons interrupt your attacks. Of course button mashing won't allow you win against someone who's learned their character, but you can defeat the CPU or other button mashers.
