About
Nightmare was born out of Siegfried when he was consumed by the evil Soul Edge. Nightmares was his alter-ego. He wields the mighty and cursed Soul Edge sword. The blade beckons for souls and Nightmare obliges it by slaughtering and hunting down any and everyone one. The blade wanted more and more souls. Eventually Nightmare was defeated by Kilik and Xianghua. Siegfried returned to normal and went about his life in shame of what his evil self had done. Over time however, the Soul Edge corrupted him once again and Nightmare returned to lay waste to most of Europe.
Nightmare would then do battle with Raphael and defeated him. As Nightmare readied to killed the human, Siegfried was able to regain some consciousness over his body and began to struggle with Nightmare and the Soul Edge. Finally, Siegfried was able to separate himself and the Soul Calibur from Nightmare and the Soul Edge. He stabbed the cursed sword with the holy sword which sealed them both away. The essence of the evil sword along with Nightmare barely escaped before this and quickly possessed Siegfried's discarded armor.
The armor was left in the castle of Ostrheinsburg and there the evil spirits plotted and brooded. The spirit of the blade began to reach out and call to the various shards of its physical form. Slowly these shards return to the castle and the Soul Edge began to take shape once again. Nightmare has now returned and the remaining shards of the Soul Edge it needs that inhabits other characters will be unable to resist its calling.
Tactics
Nightmare bares some incredibly damaging attacks. He does has a pretty good reach. A good goal is to knock an opponent down from long to mid range then move in to deal out some heavy damage. He is slow which is why you should only attack at close range when your opponent is down and can't beat you with speedier attacks.
