Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - PC XBOX/Quick Strategies
From WikiCheats
- Stock up on medpacks. You'll be using them often, especially early in the game.
- Speak with each member of your party once per level. By speaking to them you will move the plot and unlock quests.
- For the final battle you'll need a ranged Jedi attack. Either Throw Lightsaber, Destroy Droid, or Kill will work, but you'll need one of them to complete the game. Be sure you pick one up somewhere along the way.
- When you put someone in your party, they automatically jump up to your experience level. This means you can focus on leveling your character and the other members of your party will catch up on their own.
- Some decisions you make in the game have long term consequences. These are noted in the walkthrough.
- A key aspect of the game is your character's path on the light or dark side of the Force. Decisions you make and actions you make will bring you closer to one side or the other. This walkthrough covers both types of characters.
- One trick you may want to consider is to delay leveling up your character until after you become a Jedi. Once you become a Jedi, new feats and powers become available. If you delay leveling, you'll end up with more Jedi abilities and fewer abilities from your starting class.
- A note about XP in this game. Like most RPGs, KOTOR uses a system wherein you gain experience points when you complete actions or defeat enemies. When you have enough you gain a level. With each new level you gain skills and feats. But unlike most games, the difficulty of your enemies automatically adjusts to match your level. This means you can face the end boss at level 20, or you can rush through the game and face him when you're level 10. You can stop and do all the side quests or not; it all depends on how you like to play.
- This walkthrough only covers what you'll need to do to complete quests and solve certain puzzles. You'll want to explore around on your own on each level.
- Some of the quests in the game are triggered by the planet that you are on. Others are triggered by how many of the planets you've been to. Different people may experience different quests at different times or places.
- Yavin: The PC version of the game comes with this area as part of the game. The Xbox version of the game requires an expansion to access Yavin. You can download the expansion from the Xbox live network. Yavin is not a full planet, just a small space station with a single vendor.
