Delfino Plaza: 18 Shines

• Northeast Beach: Spray the sand around 20 steps from the lighthouse. You'll hear a noise when you hit the right spot. Spray it to reveal a Shine.
• Southwest Bell-Tower: Clean the bell off and a Shine will appear in the cage. To the west you'll find a manhole. Enter the sewer to reach the Shine.
• Look for a character sitting on a roof. If you pay him a coin he'll throw you into a room with a Shine inside. He does occasionally miss; if this happens simply pay him again.
• Just West of the River you'll find a house with a mini-game inside. Destroy the boxes in the time allotted. Beat this game and receive a Shine.
• You can simply play this box destroying mini-game again; it'll be harder this time. Beat the game and receive a second Shine here.
• Northeast Beach: Make your way across the small islands to find a pipe. Enter the pipe to find a Secret Course. Make it to the end and receive a Shine.
• Inside the Town: Hop onto the boat in the smaller river. As it goes under the bridge, jump where the coin is to activate a Red Coin Challenge. Complete this to receive a Shine.
• Southeastern Island: Spray the Golden Bird 3 times to receive a Shine.
• Turbo Nozzle: Find the Bell-Tower in the southwest, blast through the doors below to find a Shine.
• Turbo Nozzle: Find the door that is guarded by two characters. Blast your way through the door to find a Secret Course. Make it to the end to receive a Shine.
• Rocket Nozzle: Clean the big Shine Statue off by flying up to it. Once it's clean you receive a Shine.
• Rocket Nozzle: Fly up to the cave in the Northwestern wall of the town. Enter a Secret Course and complete the Red Coin Challenge to receive your Shine.
• Rocket Nozzle: Reach the very top of the Lighthouse. Jump and fly up directly above it only to do a Ground Pound back down on top of the roof. You'll break the roof and find a Shine.
• Rocket Nozzle: Spray the dirt off the other bell and then fly up to the top to find the Shine.
• Yoshi: Jump onto the boat while inside the town then ride it out to the open water. Hop onto the small island and eat the fruit there. Hop on the next boat that comes by and use it to reach the pillar in the water. Jump to another boat and ride it to another small island. There, clean off the pipe with Yoshi. Hop inside to complete the Red Coin Challenge.
• Collect 100 Coins: Travel the sewers and collect as many Coins as you can. Then grab another Shine from anywhere in Delfino Plaza, even if it's one you have already collected. This will restart you in Delfino Plaza but all your Coins will remain in you inventory and all the ones you have picked up will be regenerated.
• Collect 20 Blue Coins and trade them in for 2 Shines.

Mount Corona: 2 Shines

• Collect 10 Blue Coins and trade them in for a Shine.
• Go up Corona Mountain and beat the game to receive the final Shine.
