Overview/Strategies

Falco is a light-weight brawler with decently strong attacks and plenty of speed. His laser provides a nice enough projectile attack, though his true strength lies in his aerial movements. Falco can zip around in the air like no one's business, but be careful, as this will often lead to you zipping straight off the edge of a platform. His Fire Bird attack is a great recovery move; not only can you direct the angle Falco zips back up to safety, but because you're covered in flames, anyone you happen to ram into on the way will get a toasty surprise. Perhaps to compensate for such a great recovery move, this attack deals less damage than it did in Melee. Other changes from Melee include the fact that he doesn't fall as fast, and that he's got several all-new moves, including his new boomerang-like Reflector.

Combos

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Good projectile attacks for short- and long-range brawling
  • Highest first jump of any character
  • Fast aerial attacks
  • Can lock characters for several seconds in successive Blaster shots
  • Standard A Attack combo good at inflicting damage

Cons

  • Aerial attacks not overly powerful
  • Slow Forward Smash
  • Light, so attacks make him fly farther
  • Easy to grab repeatedly

Special Notes

  • Falco can be unlocked by beating the 100-Man Brawl or playing 50 matches.
  • Falco possesses two Spike Moves (see General Strategies for more information).

The first of Falco's spikes is his downward arial. This move can be devastating when combined with a short hop in order to create killshots capable of subduing foes as low as 50% or lower depending on their recovery capabilities (i.e, Bowser and Donkey Kong are more prone to early-game spikes since their Up + B moves do not cover very much vertical distance). The second is the Falco Phantasm. If this move strikes an opponent in the air, it will send them downward. However, since Falco is frozen after this move, it is very difficult to do successfully as a kill move. The best situations to use the Falco Phantasm is when Falco is knocked off of the edge with another player. If the other player is positioned slighter higher than Falco and above the stage, then it is possible to use the move as a spike while still recovering onto the stage. The Falco Phantasm is also capable of spiking foes who are attempting to edge guard, but only one the invincibility has stopped it's effect.

Move List

NOTE: All moves are written as if character is facing right; swap Left/Right directions if facing left. The name of the move is followed by the average maximum percentage of damage that move can inflict per strike. This percentage can change with varying proximity to an opponent, and lowers with each consecutive use of the same move.

Comprehensive Moveset for Falco

Infinite Laser Lock with Falco

Spam the laser (neutral B) when an opponent hits the ground and you can lock them until they fall off the edge. It IS possible to escape with teching, but it's not super easy.
