Overview/Strategies

Meta-Knight is a close range attacker with excellent flight characteristics.

Most of his attacks work only at close range. When playing Meta-Knight you should try to keep as close to your opponents as possible and hit them as hard as you can before they get away from you.

Meta-Knight has no ranged attacks, and is vulnerable to characters who can attack at a distance. His Drill Rush side special attack is a great counter to ranged attackers. Not only does this move do damage, it also gets him in close where his attacks are most effective.

With his bat wings, Meta-Knight can stay in the air longer than most other characters. He can flap his wings up to seven times, and he can glide for short periods between some of those flaps. He lacks a true recovery move, so his flight ability is his primary recovery method.

Pros

  • Very fast attacks
  • Grab has good range
  • Excellent recovery move
  • Very little lag
  • Small, so certain characters may have trouble hitting him
  • Any Special Move can be used as a recovery move

Cons

  • Fairly light, so attacks make him fly farther
  • No projectile attacks
  • Short attack range
  • Weak attacks
  • Slow falling speed, so he's easily comboed by opponents
  • Mach Tornado move bounces him off edges instead of grabbing them

This percentage can change with varying proximity to an opponent, and lowers with each consecutive use of the same move.
