Overview/Strategies

Perhaps the most surprising thing about Jigglypuff is that its attacks aren't as weak as you might think. The problem, though, is actually making contact with those attacks. Jigglypuff has deplorably short range, and as such is primarily a defensive character overall. It can make six jumps in a row without touching the ground, but its Up + B recovery move isn't really a recovery move at all, meaning that you had better be able to get back on solid ground by your sixth jump, or you're out of luck. Fortunately, you can utilize Jigglypuff's Side Special Move (Pound) to gain momentum toward the stage multiple times.

Combos

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Attacks quite strong for a character so lightweight
  • Excellent recovery move
  • Easy to string combos together
  • Very small, hard for opponents to hit
  • Great aerial hit-and-run game

Cons

  • Lightest character in Brawl, so any attack on it has high knockback
  • Very short range on attacks
  • No projectile attacks
  • Can't reflect projectiles
  • Missed Rest move leaves it vulnerable to attack

Special Notes

  • To unlock Jigglypuff you must recruit it in the Swamp level of the Subspace Emissary by finding the hidden door in the cannon area over the river after the Diddy Kong fight, or beat 20 Event Matches after beating the Subspace Emissary, or play 350 brawls.
  • Jigglypuff is known as "Purin" in the Japanese version of the game.

Move List

NOTE: All moves are written as if character is facing right; swap Left/Right directions if facing left. The name of the move is followed by the average maximum percentage of damage that move can inflict per strike. This percentage can change with varying proximity to an opponent, and lowers with each consecutive use of the same move.

Special Moves

  • Standard Special Move: Rollout
    • Hold down the B button to charge.
  • Side Special Move: Pound
  • Up Special Move Sleep Song
    • This is a defensive move. It does no damage, but puts your opponent to sleep for a second.
  • Down Special Move: Rest
    • Rest is often used as an instant K.O. move. If the target is above 35% damage, rest, which can only be affective midair, will send your opponent flying off the screen.

A attacks

  • Standard A attack: jab 3%
  • A while running: spin kick 10%
  • A while in the air: flip kick 10%

Smash Attacks

Smash moves are performed with the right analog stick, or by pressing A and using the left stick.

  • Up Smash: 15% power punch
  • Down Smash: down blast 12%
  • Left/Right: power kick 18%
  • Final Smash: Giant Jigglypuff: Jigglypuff gets really big and pushes everyone else off the platform...then later transforms back into normal Jigglypuff

Grabs

Grab your opponent using the Z button, then press a direction on the left analog stick to perform the following moves:

  • Left or Right: throw 10%
  • Up: throw 11%
  • Down: back roll 10%

Other Attacks

  • Barrel roll: A, B, A
    • Roll toward your opponent for a short time. Does no damage.

Giant Jigglypuff Glitch

If you use Jigglypuff's Final Smash on the bridge level from Twilight Princess when you see the dark portal (that will drop a new section of bridge in) inside the current break, then the new bridge will glitch you and keep you at the big size.

Jigglypuff Instant Kill on Shield Break at 0%

For unknown reasons, since the original Smash Bros, if you break Jiggly's shield at 0%, it'll fly off the screen.
