About

I guess I'm not the new guy anymore. I mean, I've been hanging around and working on Wikicheats since January or 2008. I think I have my feet well on the ground by now. Anyway, Wikicheats is a blast and I have a ton of fun working on it.

Outside of gaming I'm a rabid movie watcher and part-time filmmaker. I just launched a zombie related website called Epilogue.tv. If you like zombies, it's the place for you. I've made some low budget shorts to go along with the website. They aired during the month of Oct. I'm looking to shoot and make a bigger series in 2009. If you got some time to kill, check the site out. I've been working on it for some time now and love to see people using it.

Back to gaming; right now I own a Wii, DS Lite and a Xbox 360. I was without a 360 for well over a year (most of 2007). It feels good to be back on LIVE. I think I really missed out on quite a year in gaming. I will hopefully catch up on some games like Bioshock and Mass Effect. However, this fall has given us some great games like Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead. Maybe around the start of the new year I'll have some time to go back and revisit some older games.

Below is a link to a toolbox I'm slowly building. I'm putting some assets in there that I find useful for myself and thought others might too. If you see something you like, feel free to use it anywhere on the site.

What I'm Pumped About

Aliens

Ever since I was a kid when I walked in on my dad watching Alien and saw the chestburster eat its way out of the space trucker's chest, I've been a fan of the these movies. The first three at least. I don't know if I love Alien or Aliens more. Both movies are absolutely brilliant but in completely different ways. I probably watched Aliens more as a kid and it did influence a lot of my imagination and the way I played army out in the woods. Anyway, I don't know much about the new game but I'm pumped that it's on console. Being a Mac guy I completely missed out on all the AvP gaming. Needless to say, I'm as giddy as a school girl when I think about playing this upcoming title.

Ultimate Alliance 2 Fusion

I know this franchise hasn't done much to grow over the years, but that's ok with me. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I loved the X-Men: Legends games but when they brought in the entire Marvel universe into one game it seriously went up a level. I love the amount of characters, the random references, the character building, the costumes and other unlockables. I may be alone on this, but I had an absolute blast playing the first one. If they can iron out a few of the online hic-ups the first one had, I'll probably be playing this new for a while.

Resident Evil 5

The Resident Evil franchise is one of my favorites in gaming. Granted, they went down the tubes for a time after 3 but I think 4 completely redeemed the franchise and I'm willing to just forget about those crappy ones. Resident Evil 5 is looking great thus far. Honestly, they don't need to do much more than 4 did to get me to buy it but I am loving this stuff about the lighting that they are doing. Apparently they are going to be playing a lot with exposure and how your eyes need to adjust when going from light to dark areas. I also just love the idea of a horror game set is such a bright place. Bright meaning brightly lit.

Zombies

I may or may not have an unhealthy obsession with zombies and most things horror. It may have started way back on the NES with games like Ghost and Goblins or Castlevania. Or it may have started growing up in Maine living in the small towns Stephen King writes about. Where ever the seeds for horror came from, they were most certainly watered and sprouted from the earth as I began watching the Friday the 13th series and other horror classics.

Horror in gaming however was a little harder to come by back in the NES days. I remember renting Ghosts and Goblins quite a bit and even Castlevania. I know one of them had zombies rising out of the ground if not both of them. Next I remember playing a lot of Splatterhouse. I don't think there was technically zombies in the game, but it featured a lot of blood shed. I guess from there I started playing a boat load of Doom. That might of been the first game that made me jump from fear and it featured zombie-like soldiers. The dark corridors, the haunting grunts and the hideous creatures made it a game that I would play over and over again.

Then rolled around this little game called Resident Evil. I had never played anything like it before. It was, for me, probably the first game where I actually felt like I was playing a movie. The fixed camera angles, the cheesy dialogue, the lack of running-and-gunning, the sounds and the mysterious story all contributed to a truly horror-movie-like experience. On top of all these fantastic features, the game really brought zombies to life in a way no game had done before. Their body language (animation) totally sold the idea that these were walking corpses. Honestly though, it was the sounds that really brought these creatures ironically to life. The disturbing sounds of their walk, their lifeless moan and the disgusting sounds of them chewing on human flesh made me walk ever so slowly, fire weapons blindly at nothing and scream in fear. If I had to pick where my obsession with zombies came from, I think it was born when I first played Resident Evil.
