Hi, RedTestament. I've noticed the screenshots you've been adding to the Alone in the Dark walkthrough and am quite impressed with their high quality. Just wondering -- how did you get them to come out so clear? I'm always looking for ways to improve the screenshots I take. Thanks! -- Adam 13:27, 16 July 2008 (EDT)
Ah, I see. I wish my TV could do that. Those pics are really solid. I agree with what you said about the game, though. The controls are just horrendous. I would have put the game down long before I did if I didn't have to play it for the site! Anyway, thanks for good work on the guide, and hopefully you'll find a game you like better in the future (and, subsequently, write a guide for...) -- Adam 20:46, 16 July 2008 (EDT)
Hi, RedTestament. When you say you want to create a Template, do you mean you want to create a Template like the one that appears on the individual Alone in the Dark pages, listing all the different pages (Main Page, Walkthrough, Quick Strategies, etc.) on each page? -- Adam 21:16, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
Creating Templates
Hey, no problem, RedTestament. Here's how to put a Template together:
- Navigate to the page on which you want the Template to appear.
- Click on the "Edit" button.
- Type the following, filling in the "TITLE OF TEMPLATE" with whatever's appropriate:
- Click "Save Page."
- The Template link should now appear on your page in red letters. Click on the link.
- You must now construct your template. If you want to create a header for every sub-page of a particular game, then write it like this:
Main Page | Walkthrough | Quick Strategies
And so on and so forth until you've gotten all the pages there. Now click "Save Page" to save the template, then go to each of the game's subpages (Walkthrough, Quick Strategies, etc.) and type in at the top of each one, saving afterward to make the Template appear on the pages themselves.
NOTE: If you ever need to change a template, click "Edit" on a page that has the template displayed on it, then click on the "Template: TITLE OF TEMPLATE" link that appears near the bottom of the page to bring it back up.
I hope this clears things up a bit. It's a bit complicated at first, but it'll become simpler as you start creating more templates. Let me know if you have any questions or hang-ups about the process. I'm here to help! -- Adam 21:33, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
P.S. Also, on a side note, I don't typically put Templates on a game's main page. I just do the links manually there, since I don't want "Main Page" to appear on the main page itself. -- Adam 21:42, 17 July 2008 (EDT)
Actually, Rob's the real techno-whiz around here; I just got to you first! Glad I could help, though. -- Adam
