Magister's Terrace Boss

This article is about a boss in the World of Warcraft instance Magister's Terrace.

This page is for the version of Kael'thas Sunstrider found in the 5 man instance Magister's Terrace. The 25man version found in the Eye can be found here: Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Boss Info

Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider is the leader of the Blood Elves. The fight is somewhat similar to the encounter with him in the Eye raid instance of Tempest Keep. However, the vast majority of players have probably never seen that fight.

Strategy

Phase 1
The fight starts pretty basically. Tank and spank. Not long into the fight, Kael will summon a phoenix. This phoenix will being following one player slowly releasing an aoe blast wave every few seconds. Nuke the phoenix down from range. When the phoenix dies, an egg will spawn in its place. Players need to nuke the egg down immediately. If the egg is not killed, the phoenix will respawn. After the egg is dead, continue to dps Kael.

Phase 2
At this point, Kael will use gravity wave. This throws all players into the air and creates a field of zero gravity. Players can now swim through the air as if it was water. Do not touch the ground during this phase or Kael will launch you into the air inflicting a good amount of damage. Kael will also release several orbs. These orbs will chase after players and inflict damage to them. There is no need to tank during this phase, so all players should be doing as much damage to kael as possible while making sure to avoid the orbs.

Phase 3
There really isn't much of a phase 3. Eventually, Kael will tire and gravity lapse will end. During this time, Kael will remain stationary doing nothing. Players should nuke Kael as hard as possible and try to burn him down. If Kael is not dead by the end of this phase, he will again cast gravity wave and phase 2 will repeat.

Boss Battle on Heroic
There is not much of a difference on the heroic version of this boss fight other then that Keal'thas will have new ability. When Keal'thas reaches 52% (Right before Phase 2) he will cast a spell shield around him that will absorbs 10 000 damage. While this shield is active he will start casting a pyroblast that will do 100% damage to it's target (most likely the tank). This pryoblast can not be spell reflected, so there's only two ways to prevent this attack on landing on your party member and that is either to have a Warrior tank using Sheild Wall just before he lands the pryoblast or damaging down the shield and then spell interrupt Keal'thas. Because the tactic where you damage down the spell shield before he manages to get away his pyroblast is very risky, most people tend to go with having a Warrior or Paladin tank that can Sheild Wall/Divine Protection right before he land the attack. This makes good to remember that having a Druid tank on heroic Magisters' Terrace will most likely lead to suicide for the Druid on Keal'thas when he reaches 52%, so soulstone is a good thing to have then.
