This quest chain starts in the Ashenvale Forest, goes to Darnassus, and finally makes its way to Duskwood.

The Howling Vale
- Region: Ashenvale Forest
- Questgiver: Sentinel Melyria Frostshadow in Forest Song
- Objective: Go to the Howling Vale, and study the Tome of Mel'Thandris, then return to Sentinel Melyria Frostshadow at Forest Song.
- Reward: 25 silver
- XP: 2450
- Rep: +250 with Darnassus
The Howling Vale is near the border of Felwwod, on the west side of the road. Go up the path, then go through the short cave to a small outdoor area with a small temple. You can bypass most of the enemies here by jumping to your left and ending up behind the small temple. The tome is at the front of the temple. The enemies here are levels 29 to 39.
Velinde Starsong
- Questgiver: Sentinel Melyria Frostshadow, in Forest Song
- Objective: Speak with Thyn'tel Bladeweaver at the Warrior's Terrace in Darnassus.
Velnde's Effects
- Questgiver: Thyn'tel Bladewater in Darnassus
- Objective: Search through Velinde's Chest for her journal, then return it along with the key to Thyn'tel Bladewaver in Darnassus.
- XP: 600
- Rep: +25 with Darnassus
The chest is located on the second floor of the Sentinel Bunkhouse, on the southeast corner of the city. The second floor is accessed via the building to the northwest.
The Barrens Port
- Objective: Speak with Warfmaster Dizzywig in Ratchet
- XP: 1200
- Rep: +75 with Darnassus
Dizzywig is on the pier, in Ratchet.
Passage to Booty Bay
- Objective: Take a boat to Booty Bay and speak with Caravaneer Ruzzgot.

The Caravan Road
- Objective: Speak with Clerk Daltry in Darkshire
- XP: 1200

The Carevin Family
- Objective: Speak with Jonathan Carevin in Darkshire

The Scythe of Elune
- Questgiver: Jonathan Carevin in Darkshire
- Objective: Look for signs of the Scythe of Elune then return to Jonathan Carevin in Darkshire.
- Reward: 25 silver
- XP: 2450
- Rep: +250 with Stormwind
The Scythe is located in a mine called Roland's Doom, south of Darkshire. The Scythe is located in the back of the mine, under a pile of dirt (coordinates 88, 11).
The mine is guarded by Worgen, levels 29 to 31. You may as well pick up the nearby Worgen in the Woods quest, as it requires only killing Worgen you have to kill anyway to get into the mine.
