Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - NES/Walkthrough

From WikiCheats

Jump to: navigation, search

In the original Legend of Zelda, Link managed to fire the Silver Arrow into the body of Ganon, destroying him and recovering the lost pieces of the Triforce. Years passed, and the King of Hyrule divided the Triforce between his two children, the Prince and Princess Zelda. The greedy Prince, with the help of an evil magician, cast a sleeping spell on Zelda so that he could obtain her piece of the Triforce. Now Link must reclaim the Triforce of Courage from the Great Palace, a fortress sealed by six statues scattered across Hyrule. Thus, Link's new adventure begins...

Journey to the First Palace

You begin next to the slumbering Zelda in the North Castle, so pick up your controller and run Link out to the overworld map. Walk east along the path and then south when it forks that way, venturing into the surrounding areas to learn the game's fighting mechanics (and gain some valuable EXP, as well, which can raise your level when you've collected enough). The path will lead you straight to the town of Rauru.

Rauru

Head west through the little hamlet to the fifth house you see. Speak to the woman dressed in blue emerging from the house to gain permission inside. Follow her in and descend to the basement, where you can speak to the sage to learn your first spell: Shield. Exit the house, and then Rauru itself.

Go northeast from Rauru through the forest until you see a cave carved into the mountains, and enter. When you see something crawling toward you, kill it, and keep heading west to the cave's exit. Back outside, go east, then south to a path along the eastern coastline. The scene will switch to a side-scrolling level, so jump over the platforms to the end. Keep following the path down to the small forest, and step on the field of grass in the center of it. Run right to grab a Heart Container, which boosts your total life by one! Exit this area and go all the way back north, then head northeast through the desert to find the first Palace.

First Palace

Head right, then take the elevator down. Go left at the bottom, killing the Mini-Horseheads, Bots, and Stalfos until you reach a Key all the way west. Now run east past the elevator, killing any enemy you face for the EXP, until you find the locked door. Unlock it with the Key, then proceed east. You soon reach an elevator, but ignore for the moment; instead continue east. Eventually you'll hit another elevator, so take it up and run to the right. Grab the Key and continue east until you find another Key; snatch it up and run all the way back to the elevator. Take it down one floor, then run west to the elevator you passed by earlier. Take it down to the bottom floor and run left, sprinting over the bridge, as it will dissolve beneath your boots. Grab the P-Bag halfway over the bridge for 50 EXP, and keep running left until you face an Ironknuckle. Kill it, then unlock the door behind it to obtain the Candle. Run all the way back to the elevator now and take it up one floor. Run right to the next elevator, but before you take it down, go right to recover any lost life at the Fairy there. When you're all healed up, take the eastern elevator down to the bottom floor and right to the right. Unlock the door, then proceed to your first boss fight against the Horsehead.

BOSS: Horsehead
Immediately cast Shield on yourself, then start jumping and slashing at Horsehead's face when he moves in close. His only attack is an easily-avoidable club swing, so don't worry about losing this fight (unless you have the reflexes of a sloth). When it's defeated, grab the Key, unlock the next door, and run right to find the first Statue. You'll gain a level to boot, so finish this dungeon off by heading right to the exit.

Journey to the Second Palace

Outside in the sunshine, head southwest to the dark cave, and take it back to the forest northeast of Rauru. Return to the path, this time take it north, and then east until you see a single copse of trees to the north of the road. Enter the copse and run right to grab a 50 EXP P-Bag. Leave the area to get back on the map, then head north through the desert and enter the cave. Run left, kill the Red Goriya at the end to claim the Trophy, then leave the cave. Travel south to the path, and then west. When you reach the forest south of the path, trek south all the way to the mountains, where a cave is located. Enter, and run through it to collect the Magic Container. Leave the cave, go north again to the path, and head west up into the mountains to the village of Ruto.

Ruto

Speak to the woman by the first house to replenish any lost life, or the woman by the second house to replenish your magic. Head to the second area of the town, and speak to the woman coming out of the first house there. She'll let you in since you've got the Trophy, so head to the basement and speak to the sage to learn the Jump spell.

Exit the town now and travel south on the path to a cavern. Enter and run to the right, facing off against the Octoroks, Lowders, Achemen, and Red Goriyas. Keep heading east until you see a ledge you can't reach with your normal jump; this is your cue to cast your new Jump spell on yourself, so do so, and leap to the ledge. Keep going right to exit the cave and pop back onto the overworld map to the south a ways. Head south to a stream, then turn east until you hit a path. When you see the forest north of the path, walk around the middle of it to enter Bagu's Cabin. Speak to him, then leave and return to the path. Follow it southwest to the bridge and cross it. Now travel southeast until you see a lone copse of trees; enter this to grab a P-Bag containing 100 EXP, then get back on the overworld map. Head southwest now to the town of Saria.

Saria

Run to the second section of town and step inside the first building there, and look under the table to find a Mirror. Leave the house, go back to the first section of town, then speak to the woman in blue as she leaves her house. She'll allow you inside, so enter and head down to the basement. Speak to the sage to learn your third spell, Life, then leave the house and head left to the third section of town. Enter the building and speak to the man inside, then leave. Cross the new bridge to the left to leave town, then go south to the cave. Step inside.

Cave Maze

Enter the cave on the right, proceeding through the Red Moblins and Bots to the exit. Now go right and enter the next cave, fighting your way through to the exit. Enter the next cave to the right, and when you come across an elevator, don't use it; instead, keep going east to the cave's exit. Go south a bit, then enter the cave on the right. Cross the bridge east until you reach the exit, then enter the cave to the right. You'll need to use your Jump spell here to reach the higher ledges, but you'll also be able to claim a Magic Decanter to replenish your magic. Continue right to the cave's exit, then go south to the next cave. Head west, fighting through the Aches and Blue Goriyas to the exit. Head south to the next cave and work your way to the exit to the right. Go south again to yet another cave, fighting your way through it to the exit of this horrible maze.

Head west now, then northwest to a hole in the ground. Step onto it and head right, killing the Lowder, Acheman, Red and Orange Dairas, and Megmats on you way to an elevator. Take it down a floor, then go right, hopping over the ledges and continuing in this direction until you reach the Hammer. Grab it, then return to the elevator and take it up. Head left, and keep heading left until you're back outside. Approach the rock formation just west of the cavern, and smash it with your new Hammer. Another cavern will be revealed holding a Magic Container, so grab it, then run left to get back on the overworld map. Head west to the shore, then north to another cave. Step inside. Leap over the ledges and kill the Octoroks as you make your way east to the cave's exit. You'll pop out on another beach, so head north along the coast until you reach another cave. Thankfully you won't have to actually work your way through this one; you'll automatically be deposited to the north, with a bridge visible to the east.

The bridge is infested with Moblins and Daira, so kill them for the EXP as you make your was across. Back on the map, take the path around the graveyard to the northeast, then north over a small desert to another path. Head west on this path until you reach a boulder barricading the way, then smash it to pebbles with the Hammer. Follow the path north, and when you see another boulder blocking a cave to the east, head over there and give it a good whack. Enter the now-accessible cave (staying away from the Myus for the moment, as they're too strong for you to damage them) and head through it to find another Heart Container. Leave the cave, then walk west until you see another cave. Head on in and fight your way to a P-Bag containing a lovely 200 EXP, then get back on the overworld map. Get back on the path to the east, then follow it down to the fork, and head west through the swamp again. When you reach the western end of the forest, head north to find another cave blocked by a boulder. Break it, then enter the cavern. Fight your way to the east, where a bottle of Medicine awaits, then leave the cave. Return to the path and follow it all the way to the eastern shores, where the town of Mido is located.

Mido

Head west through town, speak to the woman dressed in red to replenish any lost health, then head to the second section of town. Cast Jump on yourself, then leap onto the church roof to find a door. Step inside, then descend to the church basement. Speak to the knight and he'll teach you a new technique for your sword: the Down Thrust. Leave the church, go west and speak to the woman in orange to replenish your magic, and then make your way to the third section of town. Speak to the old woman leaving the first house and she'll invite you in (but only because you've got the Medicine). Enter the basement and speak to the sage to learn another spell: Fairy. Now leave town and go west on the path to the fork, then go north. When you see the swamp off to the west, leave the path and trudge through the swamp between the mountains to find the second Palace.

Second Palace

You'll start on the highest level of this Palace, with four floors beneath you. Run east to the elevator and take it down three floors (as far down as this one will go), then continue east through the Bots to find a Key at the end. Return to the elevator and take it up one floor. Run west, killing the Skull Balls, Ropes, and Stalfos to find another Key, then get back on the elevator and take it up another floor. Head west, making sure you avoid touching the floating heads, as they actually drain your EXP. When you reach the locked door, use one of your Keys to proceed. Keep heading west, snagging the Key along the way to another elevator. Take it down one floor and run west, killing the Ropes and Stalfos and unlocking the door with another Key. Sprint through this room to avoid getting crushed by the blocks falling from the ceiling, then head into the next room and unlock another door. Step through, grab the Handy Glove, then go back to the previous room. You'll be able to reach the P-Bag now, so grab it (50 EXP is 50 EXP after all) and return to the elevator. Take it down as far as it will go (one more floor) and get off. Run east, breaking through the stone blocks with your weapon, and keep going past another elevator until you find another Key. Take it, then go back to the elevator and take it down to the bottom level of the Palace. Run to the right. When you reach the platforms that dissolve, drop down to quickly take the P-Bag at the bottom, then keep heading east to a locked door. Use a Key to get through, then proceed to this Palace's boss, the Helmethead.

BOSS: Helmethead
Start off this fight on the right foot by casting Shield on yourself, then make use of your new Down Thrust technique by jumping at Helmethead's face and unleashing the new attack. Keep jumping and Down Thrusting at this boss's head to kill it and leave the way to the second Statue open.

Journey to the Third Palace

Outside the Palace, walk east out of the swamp and get back on the path. Go south to the fork in the road, then go east a few steps and then south to the large cemetery. Walk to the tombstone separated from all the others, then walk directly south from it to find a secret cave you'll drop into. Head right through it, and when you reach the wall, cast Fairy on yourself to get over it. Proceed to the end of the cave and you'll emerge on an island. Walk north around the mountains to find the third Palace. Enter.

Third Palace

You begin on the top level of the Palace, at its far western end. Run right to the elevator and take it down one level, then start a long trek to the east. Destroy the Stone Warrior with your Shield spell, and the Down Thrust to kill the Myus. Stone blocks will eventually start falling from the ceiling onto the path, so sprint past them to avoid being turned into a Link pancake. You'll face another Stone Warrior soon enough, so deal with him as you did the first one. Past that, use your Down Thrust technique on the blocks to get the first Key, continuing east afterwards. Cast Jump on yourself to leap over the large block-stairs, and grab the P-Bag (100 EXP) on your way to another Key on the far right ledge. When you have it, go back left to the elevator you just passed and take it down to the next level. Head right first, unlock the door, break through a wall of stone, make your way east over the platforms to another stone wall, slash through it, take the Key from the platform when you see it, kill all the enemies you encounter, and grab the Raft at the far right. Now turn around and go left past the elevator to two locked door. Use Keys to pass through them, and when you reach more block-stairs, cast Jump on yourself to get over them. Down Thrust through the stones below to grab another Key and a P-Bag (approach them from the left). With those in your possession, return to the elevator and take it down to the lowest level. Head right through the locked door, then cast Jump on yourself to reach the P-Bag high above you. Keep heading right, chopping through the stones blocking way ahead, until you find another P-Bag containing another 100 EXP. Leap up the ledges to the top next, go right, then chop through the floor to reach the boss's chamber.

BOSS: Ironknuckle
Cast Shield on yourself immediately, then get ready for Ironknuckle to come riding by on its horse. As with the previous bosses, attack its head, using Down Thrust. Keep doing this until it leaps off the horse and switches its attack to its sword. Your tactics won't change, though; just keep Down Thrusting its head until Ironknuckle is defeated. Now take the Key, unlock the final door, and claim the third Statue.

Journey to the Fourth Palace

Leave the Palace and take the cave back to the cemetery. Go north to the path and take it east to the dock. Now that you have the Raft you can sail to the eastern half of Hyrule, so do so, and you'll come ashore on the western coast of a grassy plain. Walk south to a small copse of trees, and step inside, fighting your way to a P-Bag at the end. Leave the forest area, then walk east to the town of Nabooru and enter.

Nabooru

Head left through town to the fountain, then stand next to the statue in the center of it and press B to obtain some water; take it to the house just to the right and speak to the woman in red. She'll invite you in, so enter and head down to the basement to learn the Fire spell from the sage. Heal up from the other woman in red in this village, if you need it, then leave.

Now head north up the path to the cave and step inside. Head right, casting Fire on yourself to kill the blue lizards. When you're back outside the cave on the northern end of the continent, walk northeast to a long bridge leading to the Island Maze. We won't be tackling it just yet, but for now, go south at the first fork in the path, then east as far as you can go, then north, following this path to its end. You'll fall into a secret cavern. Right right to find a lost child who you need to take left up the steps and back outside. Return to the bridge and then the mainland, then walk west to a path leading through the mountains. Your perspective will switch to a side view, so leap up the ledges to the west until you're back on the overworld map. Go west and you'll enter a second side-scrolling area where you need to kill Octoroks and dodge floating bubbles on your way out. When you emerge again on the map, enter the town of Darunia.

Darunia

Head left, then speak to the women in red and orange to recover your health and magic, respectively. Continue left to the second section of town, cast Jump on yourself, then leap onto the roof of the fourth house from the right. Hop from rooftop to rooftop to the rightmost house and enter it via the chimney (just stand on it and press DOWN). Descend to the basement and speak to the Knight to learn the Up Thrust technique for your sword, then leave the house. Head to the third section of town and speak to the woman coming out of the first house. That child you saved in the cave is hers, as it turns out, so she lets you in, allowing you to head to the basement and speak to the sage to learn a new spell: Reflect. Leave the town now and head east again, crossing the bridge to the Island Maze.

Island Maze

Head south at the first fork, then east, and then north at the second fork. Make a right at the next fork to be taken to a side-scrolling section where you'll need to make use of the Fire spell in order to kill the local unsavories. When you're back outside in the maze, head east and then north to the bridge that takes you north (not the bridge going west). You'll be thrown into another side-scrolling patch, so get through it as you did the first one. Back in the maze, you'll see a fork heading north (which is where you want to go), but first head west at this fork and around to a side-scrolling area where you can obtain another Magic Container. Once you have that, return to the north fork. You'll encounter more side-scrolling areas along the way, but they're all simple and won't require any tricky maneuvers. When you reach the fork heading north and south, head north, then east at the next fork, east at the second, and east at the third. Follow this path all the way to the fourth Palace.

Fourth Palace

Head east from where you begin and take the elevator down one level. Head east from there, Down Stabbing to get the P-Bag when you see it, then taking the next elevator you come across down another level. Head east again, killing the Stalfos and leaping up the ledges into the next room. Cast Jump on yourself there, sprint across the crumbling bridge, then make a long leap to the far ledge when you reach the end of it. Continue east into the next room, leaping over the platforms and destroying the stone blocks in your way as you make your way over the lava pits to a huge pit. Jump over it and continue right until you grab the Key, then go back to the large pit. Drop down into it, holding RIGHT on the D-pad to make sure you land on a platform. Head right, unlock the door, and grab the Boots, which allow you to walk on shallow patches of water! Return to the pit and jump into it, landing on another crumbling bridge spanning some nice hot lava. Sprint to the right before your goose is cooked, and leap across the platforms to find another Key. Grab it, then return to the crumbling bridge and run left across it this time, casting Reflect on yourself once you're across it in order to deal with the Doomknocker enemies. Unlock the locked door with a Key, then proceed west past an elevator to a room with the key buried beneath several blocks. Dig into the blocks with your Down Thrust, and carve out some stairs to get out of that mess. Return to the elevator to the east now and ride it up as far as it'll go.

Head west now past the first elevator you rode, unlock the door with a Key, and proceed to a room with a Key high above you; cast Jump on yourself, then Up Thrust the stone blocks to get to it. Drop back down and continue west to another locked door. Use a Key to get through, then proceed west past another elevator (we'll be back here in a second). Cast Jump on yourself to get over the large stone barricade, then chip through with your sword to grab the P-Bag. Get out of the blocks and continue west to find a Key inside another pile of stone. Chip it out, then return to the elevator you just passed most recently. Take it down one level and head right, fighting and jumping all the way to the end, where a Key awaits. Take it, then go back in the direction from whence you came, passing the elevator. Sprint over the crumbling bridge to find a locked door. Unlock it and pass through, proceeding to an elevator that can take you down to the bottom level. Head right, unlock the door, and continue east. Use the Jump spell to reach the P-Bag on the high platform, then continue east until you enter the boss's room.

BOSS: Carock
Your Reflect spell will be crucial in the defeat of this boss. Start the battle off by casting both Shield and Reflect on yourself, then stand at either end of the boss's room. Carock can disappear and teleport around the room, casting spells at you all the while. By standing at the far edge of the room, Carock cannot appear behind you, and thus will fire spells directly at your shield. Reflect his spells back at him repeatedly until he dies, then unlock the final door to claim the fourth Statue.

Journey to the Fifth Palace

This'll be a short journey, if you could even call it that. Leave the fourth Palace and, with your fancy new Boots laced up, walk on the river to its end and cross the bridge back to the mainland. Enter the cave to the southwest to get back on the other side of the mountains, then follow the path east of Nabooru. Continue across the water as if the path still existed to reach the fifth Palace.

Fifth Palace

Proceed east from the beginning and take the elevator down one level. Head right until you reach a seemingly-impassable wall, then cast Fairy on yourself to get over it and into the next room. Now turn around, enter the room you just exited, and grab the Key before turning around again and proceeding right. Run over the crumbling bridge, grab the P-Bag, and keep heading east to the elevator. Take it down one level, then head left to a roof with blocks plummeting from above. Take cover beneath the platform with the Key on it, wait for the blocks to stop falling, and cut your way up to the platform to grab the Key. Continue left to another elevator, and take it down one floor. Head left, taking down the Bots and Fire Droppers until you see a ledge above the next elevator; cast Jump on yourself there and leap up to grab a P-Bag filled with 200 EXP. Drop down now and take the elevator to the floor below this one. Head east this time, casting Jump on yourself and leap to the ledge high above you. Kill the Ironknuckle in your way to grab another Key, then fall off the ledge to the right. Continue in this direction, leaping through the wall when you come to it and passing by the elevator. Keep going east until you reach another elevator, and take this one up one level. Head left, kill the blue Stalfos, grab the Key, then go back to the elevator and ride it back down one level.

Run back to the other elevator you passed by earlier and take it down one floor, then run left to a locked door. Unlock it and proceed west to another locked door, which you should have no problem dealing with regardless of your mental capacity. Grab the Flute from the room behind it, then return to the elevator and take it back up one floor. Head left to the other elevator and pass it by for the moment, continuing west until you reach some blocks you can chop through to obtain a P-Bag. That collected, return to the last elevator and take it up one level. Go west this time, unlocking the door and proceeding to another elevator. Head past it for the moment, cut through the blocks for another P-Bag, then go back to it and take it down another floor. Go left for a Key and P-Bag, then ride the elevator up two floors. Unlock the door, then head east to face this Palace's boss, Gooma.

BOSS: Gooma
Gooma is rather large, and loves to bash you with his big heavy mace, so it would make sense to cast Jump and Shield on yourself at the battle's outset. As for your offense, just wait until Gooma stops swinging his mace at you, then move in close and slash repeatedly with your sword. Jump over the mace when he brings it out again, and repeat this process until he's toes-up. Collect the fifth statue now and leave the Palace for good.

Journey to the Sixth Palace

Walk west back to land, then go south to the black River Devil blocking the way across the stream. Play your newly-acquired Flute in front of it to send it packing, then follow the path south to enter a side-scrolling level. Fight your way through the Lizardmen as you work your way to the right. Back on the overworld map, proceed to a second side-scroller, get past it by using your Fire spell, then head out to the map again. You'll have to get through one more side-scrolling area until you're out of the path. When you reach the cemetery, go southeast to the bridge. Cast Fairy on yourself to fly over this section. After that, head northeast through the forest, staying east of the lake, and enter the cave to the north. Kill the jumping spiders and Lizardmen on your way out of the cave, and when you're back on the overworld map, take two steps to the east, three steps to the south, and one more to the east. Use your Hammer there to reveal the town of Kasuto and enter.

Kasuto

Head right through town and speak to the crone in blue by the second house; she'll let you inside, where you can obtain a fourth Magic Container from the basement. Leave the house, then head into the second section of town. Find the house with an open front door and enter, then press UP in front of the fireplace to reach the secret basement. Speak to the sage to learn the Spell magic, then leave the house and head to the third section of town. Cast Spell here to make a building materialize, then enter it. Head right to the wall to obtain the Magic Key, then leave Kasuto.

Now go back through the cave that brought you here and head south to the large desert. Look for the three rock formations forming a triangle, stand in the center of them, and blow your Flute to reveal the location of the sixth Palace--just to the south. Step inside.

Sixth Palace

Go right, take the elevator down two floors, and head east. Use the Magic Key to unlock the door, then keep going right to a large pit you won't be able to clear until you've casted Jump on yourself. Unlock the next door, head through, and proceed to a room where you'll need the Jump spell again to leap to the top. Fight through the room with Ironknuckle statues on pedestals, making sure to jump over a hidden pit in the floor when you reach the third statue in the background (use the Jump spell). Chop through the stone wall with your sword, and keep going east to face the boss from the second Palace. Kill him as you did the first time, then unlock the door behind him to get the Cross. Now head all the way back to the first pit you leaped over and drop off the ledge, skipping the first landing below you and holding RIGHT to stop at the second. Head right, unlock the door, and keep going right, still remembering to kill the enemies you see for EXP. Leap over the platforms, chop through the stone barriers, and when you reach the lava pit, cast Fairy on yourself and fly over it. Run past the elevator (we won't be using it) to the locked door, unlock it, then kill the mounted horseman in the next room for a Key. At the large pit to the east, drop down to the next floor, then quickly cast Fairy on yourself and fly to the right ledge. Head through the next room to face this Palace's boss, Barba.

BOSS: Barba
The dragon Barba emerges from the lava to shoot balls of fire at you, which you should dodge by either jumping over them or leaping to another platform. Cast Shield and Jump spells on yourself, then deal with this boss as you would any other in this game: jump and slash repeatedly at its head. Eventually it will go down, leaving the way to the sixth Statue open.

Journey to the Great Palace

Now head west from the sixth Palace and onto the small bridge, casting Fairy on yourself to bypass the brief side-scrolling section. On the other side, stroll into the town there, Old Kasuto.

Old Kasuto

You could call this town completely deserted, if not for the Moas infesting its streets and boulevards. Enter the first house you come to, head down to the basement, and speak to the sage to learn a new spell: Thunder. Note that you cannot learn this if you haven't collected all four Magic Containers. That's it for this town, so say goodbye to it for good and return to the overworld map.

Go east over the small bridge again, then north a short distance to the second bridge to the west, then cross that one to the cemetery. Head all the way to the southern tip of the cemetery to enter a side-scrolling section, get through by pretty much dodging everything, and get back on the overworld map. Continue south and then east for another side-scrolling section where you'll have to fight through some Lizardmen and dodge some Moas whilst clearing a few bottomless pits with the Jump spell. Back on the map, continue north up the right path for yet another side-scrolling section that greatly resembles the previous one, get through it, then head into the north cave. Fight through the red Eyeballs and the Lizardmen until you're back outside, then head south down the path and up the northwest one to another side-scroller scene. Get through this lava-filled cavern to get back on the map. Walk north into the last cave, fight past the Lizardmen, and exit right in front of the Great Palace, the last dungeon of the game. Take a deep breath, steel yourself for the worst, gather your courage, and step inside.

The Great Palace

Head right past the fading barrier to the elevator, take it down one level, then go left. When you reach the pit, cast Fairy on yourself and fly over to the elevator, and take that down another floor. Run east now over the bridges to the next room, which holds another elevator. Ride it down to the level below and continue east, chopping through the stone block barriers to proceed. When you reach the next elevator, ride it down three floors, then keep going east through the next room to another elevator. Ride that one down a level and head east, chopping through stone and Bots alike. Sprint across the crumbling bridge when you reach it, then ride the next elevator down one floor. Head east one room, Down Thrust through the stone blocks, and head to yet another elevator. Take it down three levels, then head west. Fight through the enemies into the next room, then Down Thrust through the stone blocks in the floor to drop down to the room below this one. Head right, killing the Bots and entering the next room to the east. There's a long, crumbling bridge here, with a hole in the floor directly beneath the center of it. Wait for the bridge to disintegrate beneath you there, and drop through the hole to the floor below. Gather up your courage again and head east, for you are entering the boss's chamber of the Great Palace!

BOSS: Thunderbird
As with every other boss you've faced, start the battle off by casting Shield on yourself, and Jump as well. Throw in Reflect to deal with the boss's fireballs. Then, when Thunderbird appears onscreen, cast Thunder on it to change his hue; this makes him vulnerable to your attacks. Jump and slash at his head with your sword, and keep moving around the room to avoid being hit by him. He'll speed up every time you cut him, but if you keep moving and jumping and attacking he won't last long.

Once he's dead, head into the eastern room to face the final boss of the game...

FINAL BOSS: Dark Link
You have been deemed worthy of the Triforce of Courage, but first you must pass the final test: a confrontation with yourself in shadow form! Immediately cast Shield on yourself, then run to the left side of the room, turn around so that you face east, and just start hammering on the attack button so that you're constantly swinging your sword. Dark Link will approach you and run straight into your weapon, repeating his mistake over and over until he has been defeated! This method is pretty cheap, but it works.

With the Triforce of Courage in your grasp, Link is able to awaken Princess Zelda and restore Hyrule to its former greatness! Congratulations on beating the second iteration of the Zelda series.
